Mobile view. Move search bar and shopping cart to header, disable footer bar.

I understand that by default Storefront has a sticky Handheld Footer bar. In my case it shows the search bar and shopping cart (not my account).

I guess there are some advantages to have a sticky Handheld Footer bar. However if I (in mobile view) would like to remove the footer bar and have the search bar and shopping cart in the header (not sticky), what would be the best way to achieve this?

In such case, I’d recommend hiding the footer bar, via CSS, for the mobile viewport, and including the search and cart as icons in the mobile menu up-top.

Your suggestion is to include search and cart as icons inside the mobile menu. I already have them included, but not as icons. I would like to have seach and cart icons in the header next to the mobile menu.

That wasn’t not the support I expected. Normally Storefront support is excellent.

From what I gather, the feature set offered with Storefront is not sufficient for your store’s needs.

Kindly note that, there are also child themes available (linked here), along with the Storefront Extensions Bundle (linked here). They are designed to offer further options, to situations where more customizations are needed.

Otherwise, feel free to explore other themes that might be suitable for your store’s needs. Deco, Kirana, and Bookix, all offer the icons you’d rather have up-top in their mobile viewports.

I’ve looked at the child themes. Half of the child themes have about 1000 or less installations. Only three child themes have reviews (3-7 reviews). Quite a few of them havn’t been updated the last 4 years. It says “The theme may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.” Anyway, all of the child themes have sticky Handheld Footer bar which I want to avoid. Meaning a child theme won’t resolve my problem.

Storefront Extensions Bundle includes a dozen plugins. I do my very best to avoid plugins that are not absolutely necessary. I can’t see any of the plugins included in Storefront Extensions Bundle will solve my current problem.

Of course there other themes that in mobile view have logo, search bar and shopping cart sticky in the header (btw Kirana and Bookix don’t have it). I’ve been using Storefront all the time as I appreciate it’s leightweight, fast and without unnecessary features. If possible I want to continue using Storefront.

To the contrary, I’ve always considered Storefront’s sticky footer bar one of its coolest features, by the way.
