Recently, paid orders are reverted to “canceled” (Postfinance checkout) or “unpaid payment” (Paypal). First, I suspected Postfinance checkout but since I experiance a similar issue with Paypal I guess it must be Woocommerce.
    WordPress 6.2.2, Woocommerce 5.2.0, Postfinance Checkout 2.1.27
    Any ideas?
Btw. I cant update WP and WC yet because the Postfinance checkout plugin is not ready for a newer version.
    Kind regards, Peter

  • Hey Peter,

    Thanks for reaching out!

It looks like orders are being changed to “Canceled” or “Unpaid”, although the orders are successful, correct?

I guess it must be Woocommerce.

It is always recommended to have WooCommerce and WordPress updated to their latest version in order to ensure optimal functionality. An outdated version of WooCommerce can indeed contribute to this type of issue.

It looks like you are using WooCommerce version 5.2.0, yes? Although support related to third-party plugins is outside our scope of support, I have done some digging to find out which version of WooCommerce is currently compatible with the Postfinance Checkout plugin.

From what I can see, although their plugin is not officially compatible with WooCommerce 8.2, it has been tested with WooCommerce version 8.1.1, which they recommend updating to. You can read more about this here:

    https://github.com/pfpayments/woocommerce/issues/37#issuecomment-1820835465

Can you try updating WooCommerce core to at least version 8.1.1, create a test payment with both PayPal and the Postfinance payment gateway, and see if this resolves the issue?

Let us know how this goes!

Thanks for your fast reply, Roxy!
I updated to WordPress 6.3, Woocommerce 8.4 and Postfinance Checkout 2.1.28 (the highest I may go according to Postfinance Checkout).
I happend again to an exsisting order in process (ordered before the update). I will observe if it also happens with new orders and give an update.

    Hi @diz99,

I appreciate your patience and diligence in updating your WordPress, WooCommerce, and Postfinance to their latest versions.

It’s always crucial to keep these updated for optimal performance.

It could be due to the updates not taking effect on orders that were already in process before the update.

I recommend you to monitor your new orders as planned and see if the issue persists.

Should the problem continue with new orders, please don’t hesitate to get back to us.

I have now two days old orders which aren’t affected. I assume it’s good now. Too bad I can’t tell which update did fix the issue.
    Thanks everybody for the support.
I wish you pleasant holidays and a happy new year!

Update: Orders where canceled again. It looks like it happens after “Hold stock” time (in Woocommerce/settings/products/invetory) is running out.

I contacted the Cloudways support. Apparently, the cron job “woocommerce_cancel_unpaid_orders” is running correctly. But my issue is about the “paid” orders.

It looks like it’s the same issue some people had two years ago: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/paid-orders-being-cancelled-after-a-while-in-woocommerce/#:~:text=Orders%20being%20set%20to%20canceled,the%20WooCommerce%20auto%20expiry%20feature.
