I have set some menu links to “Open in a new tab” but when that menu is used in the header made by Elementor Header & Footer Builder it is blocking the link from opening in a new tab and instead only opens in the current tab.

  • I’m having the same issue — specifically the “hfe-nav-menu” class is removing the target=”_blank” attribute. Meanwhile other links on my site have no problem opening in a new tab. Any way to fix this?

    Hi @robk66,

Please share the exact steps to replicate this case, and I will try to reproduce it on my dev site.

@_justbill, as per the forum guidelines, please start your own thread. You are welcome to cross-link it with this one, so we are aware of both.

    Kind regards,

Thanks, @_justbill. I just posted my response there.

And @robk66, I am having the same thing on my dev site. I am taking this to our team. I will update this thread once I get something.

Hi @robk66, I have heard an update from our team.

The Navigation Menu widget in this plugin displays the menu as expected. However, it doesn’t automatically open links in a new tab, as this is the default behavior in WordPress. Unfortunately, there’s no option in the plugin to enable this feature.

    I hope this explanation helps.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

But why is your plugin blocking the WP Menu option? I have enabled “Open link in new tab” in my menu settings but your plugin removes this on the menu it creates. This seems like a feature you need to fix or add.

When are you fixing the issue? I’m facing the same problem.

Based on their response, they do no see this as an issue, which it clearly is ??

hey @_justbill, Have you found any solution? Please let me know if you have discovered any alternative to solve this issue.

@pallavi4 the only solution is to use a different plugin that supports the “Open in new tab” function as this one dos not. Unless they decide to update this plugin, which it doesn’t seem like they will because they said that blocking that function is normal behavior for their plugin.

    Hi guys,

Yes, as I mentioned above, this is not an issue and it is the default behavior.

@_justbill, I want to clarify that we’re not blocking it WordPress option. The Navigation Menu widget of this plugin only “fetch” the Menu item, not including it’s style and behavior.

I hope that clarifies and clears any confusion you may have.

We’re sorry if the available option doesn’t meet your needs. Hopefully, we will be able to add this option to this plugin, in the future updates.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

Either way the end result is the same for users. It’s a basic website function that clearly people use.

I highly recommend updating the plugin to fetch all data and settings about the menu, including the link target attribute.
