Trying to post my latest MetaSlider slideshow via the usual Post page widget, the dropdown does include the just-created slideshow. It’s the latest of 69 MetaSlider slideshows created.

Recent changes I made are to implement the WP Fastest Cache and Performance Lab plugins, which have improved speed significantly, which also seems to have bumped up my traffic.

Hi @newracer. Thanks for using MetaSlider.

We have a troubleshooting guide here that’s worth following: https://www.metaslider.com/docs/troubleshooting/

If I had to guess, your issue may be with Step 7 and the caching plugin you installed.

95% of the problems we see with MetaSlider are related to cache plugins. Generally they can be solved by skipping MetaSlider in the cache or otherwise tweaking the cache settings.

Hmmm, I don’t know about that. I de-activated both plugins: Performance Lab and WP Fastest Cache and the problem remains…still not showing the latest slideshow in the dropdown.

Hi @newracer. Can you clarify what you mean by “Post page widget”?

Is this the old, legacy widget system for WordPress themes?

Creating a block on the Post page (which I called a widget), I can choose the type of block I want, e.g., ‘paragraph’, like this one I’m using right now to post this reply on this website, or on my site, since I have the MetaSlider plugin, I can choose ‘MetaSlider” for the block type, and within the block, I get a dropdown to choose which slideshow to display.

OK, thanks @newracer. We’ve not had any more reports of this, so can you test this out more, please?

For example, what happens if you add another slideshow? Does that appear?

Sorry, a new test slideshow doesn’t show in the dropdown either. Both do show up in the MetaSlider “Home” list, just FYI.

    Hi @newracer,

I checked in local and it should display more than 69 slideshows. In my test I successfully listed 81 slideshows. This data is triggered through the WordPress API. Is there a chance other plugins could be caching and/or limiting these results?

    (@newracer)

I really have no idea. As I said, the only thing that’s changed was the plug-ins I mentioned, and deactivating them didn’t help.

Not sure what to do at this point. I installed a different slideshow plugin for my latest post for now, but…

Thanks @newracer. Here are several things you can try:

    • Use the shortcode. It’s probably even easier than the block. It’s Option #2 here: https://www.metaslider.com/docs/how-to-add-metaslider/
    • Try a different browser to test the block.
    • Sign up for MetaSlider Pro. You’ll get more features for your dozens of slideshows and our team can log in and fix any issues on your site.

Is possible for you to enable the browser inspect tool (by doing right click and then look for the inspect option).

    • Keep the “Network” tab active and
    • Insert a new “MetaSlider” block
    • Find the “list” file in the “Network” area
    • See the “response” data

What is the last result number on that list? In my example below is 79, 80

Okay, thanks to both of you. Let me try the potential fixes before I start doing the inspect tool diagnosis.

Okay, using the shortcode worked. So that’s good. I can stick with that, though it still leaves the mystery. Another thing I just noticed. I always create new slideshows by duplicating/editing the previous slideshow. In the MetaSlider Home view, even though the new slideshow is listed with the correct, new, title, in Edit mode, the title at the top of the page reverts to the title of the copied slideshow, even though I’ve saved it multiple times with the new title. That’s definitely odd.

Thanks @newracer. This definitely sounds like a plugin conflict. I would recommend trying the browser inspect tool next.

Thanks for using MetaSlider. We’ve not heard from you in over a week. If this problem continues, please feel free to follow up on this issue.

I’m having the same exact issue using Metaslider Pro and it’s very frustrating. I no longer see new slideshows in the dropdown menu, just the first 2 I’ve made.

This seemed like a bug but killing my browser cache resolved the issue. It works now.
