Ever since the latest update (Woo 8.5.1), we have encountered a strange bug. When adding a product to the shopping cart directly from the shop/archive page, the cart is unable to open.

We use the ‘Menu Cart’ in Elementor as a menu button. When you add a product to the cart directly from the shop/archive page and click the cart button in the menu to open the cart, the URL of the page gets a ‘#’ sign added at the end, and nothing else happens. The Menu Cart doesn’t pop up; the cart doesn’t open.

This does not happen when you open the product page first and add it to the cart from there.

Another thing that might be related is that suddenly, the shop page can’t be edited with Elementor anymore.

    I’d appreciate the help.

    Hi @catinka,

It sounds like there might be a conflict between the new version of WooCommerce and your current theme or one of your plugins, especially Elementor.

I’ve gone ahead and tried to replicate the issue on your website, and from what I can see, everything’s working fine on my end. I’ve tested your website using Firefox, Safari, and Opera.

From my experience, this could be resolved by clearing your browser’s cache and cookies. You can follow our detailed guide on clearing browser cache here: https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

If this makes no difference, you can run a conflict test to help you identify the cause of the issue. More info: https://woo.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

Furthermore, since Elementor is a third-party plugin which we don’t provide support for (please see our Support Policy), it would be best to reach out to the plugin’s developers for further assistance here.

I am sure they will have no problem supporting you there.

I hope this helps! Please let us know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

    Hi Shameem (@shameemreza)

Thank you for the quick reply!
I’m very sorry, but I’d found even more problems with this new update from Woocommerce so maybe 45 minutes before you tested our site I’ve downgraded to version 8.3.1 which is the last version that didn’t cause us any trouble (version 8.4.0 caused trouble with shipping costs). That’s why everything was working fine when you checked it.

I was just about to update my post, but I was too late. I apologise for your wasted time.

One of the newly discovered problems was that all our composite products broke on the site. With the composite products you need to be able to select choices before placing the order, but both the choices and the order button were not loading.

There were just too many things not working with version 8.5.1, so I chose not to try and fix them all. I’ve downgraded and will wait for a new version of Woocommerce that isn’t this buggy.

Thanks again for your extensive reply. I really do appreciate your help.

    Hey, @catinka!

I understand wanting to downgrade while the issues are not resolved.

But would you be able to have a staging version of the site with Woo 8.5.1 so we help you figure out what is going on and what is causing the issues?

You can ask your host if they offer this service, or you can use WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

If this is possible please let us know the staging site’s URL so we can check it out and please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Thank you!

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Hi @carolm29, I would love to help you and I will try to do this tomorrow. It’s very busy this week tho, so there is a change I might not get to it in time.
    Have a great day!

    Hi @ckadenge,
The pressure at work didn’t subside till now, but by now we are a couple versions of Woo later, so I don’t think it’s of use for you guys anymore if I make a staging site for the problematic version a few iterations ago.
The newer versions of woo don’t cause me any problems so far, so I hope you don’t mind if I change the status of this question to ‘resolved’.
    Thanks again for you help!

    Hi @catinka,

I’m glad to hear that the newer versions of WooCommerce are working well for you and that you no longer need assistance with the previous issue.

If you encounter any other issues in the future, don’t hesitate to reach out to us again.

    We’re always here to help.
