I’m trying to authenticate my sender domain in line with these instructions. I’m adding the following DNS records to my DNS Console in KonsoleH (my service provider’s administration). The name and values below are provided by Mailpoet as part of the process of authenticating my sender domain.

    • CNAME host / name: mailpoet1._domainkey.academic-headspace.com / value: dkim1.sendingservice.net
    • CNAME host / name: mailpoet2._domainkey.academic-headspace.com / value: dkim2.sendingservice.net
    • TXT host / name: _mailpoet.academic-headspace.com / value: 3f71c3321a162c10614237d28b96ac47
    • TXT host / name: _dmarc.academic-headspace.com / value: v=DMARC1; p=none;

When I try to verify the DNS records in Mailpoet, both CNAME and the first TXT records give me an error saying, “Invalid. DNS record completely missing. Please add DNS record”. The last TXT record in the list above is “Pending”.

I’ve copied the name and values directly from Mailpoet, and created new DNS records in my domain administration panel.

I made these changes yesterday so it doesn’t seem like it’s just an issue with taking time to propagate.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Identical experience here, using Dreamhost.

Aha! As noted in another post, your provider may have already inserted your domain name (since you’re already logged in and you’ve selected that domain to manage). In my case, it was Dreamhost. The domain name was faintly visible in gray; that’s not a guideline, it’s actually there. Leave it out and the update works fine. Propagated quickly, too.

Thanks for your message, but I don’t think that this is the solution for my problem, as my DNS records weren’t in the list i.e. I didn’t have records for the two CNAME and TXT entries required for Mailpoet in my provider’s list of DNS records. So there was no place for the entries to be added by the provider.

I had to create the entries, and all fields were blank when I created them.

    Hello there @michealrowe1,

Some DNS providers may create DNS records with a duplicate domain name, causing “mailpoet1._domainkey.example.com” record to be incorrectly created as “mailpoet1._domainkey.example.com.example.com”
    ?
This might be what happened in your case.
    ?
Try removing the domain name from the record’s name, leaving it as ”?mailpoet1._domainkey”, “mailpoet2._domainkey”, “_mailpoet”
    ?
Once you do this, kindly go back to your MailPoet account > My Sender Domains > Click on the domain and click on verify DNS records again.
    ?
    I hope this helps.

The solution was that the host name information provided by Mailpoet was missing a period at the end of the name. I just had to add a single period to the end of each host name and the DNS records validated immediately. This problem as been solved for me.

    Hello there @michealrowe1,

Thank you for getting back to us and letting us know this is resolved.

    Cheers!

    Same problem here.
I have spent hours searching for a solution, reading documentation, googleing, reading forum messages, trying things… So frustrating!
Why can’t you make a proper documentation and code?

I don’t understand what Michael did. I just added the DNS records using the Zone Editor of cPanel, and I have:
    Name TTL Type Record
    mailpoet1._domainkey.ftina.eu. 14400 CNAME
    dkim1.sendingservice.net
    mailpoet2._domainkey.ftina.eu. 14400 CNAME
    dkim2.sendingservice.net
    _mailpoet.ftina.eu. 14400 TXT 96accb56872ba9e621fa4dd7a63552bf
    _dmarc.ftina.eu. 14400 TXT v=DMARC1;p=none;sp=none;adkim=r;aspf=r;pct=100;fo=0;rf=afrf;ri=86400

and all I get is invalid/invalid/invalid/pending

    Hi fronimitis

I’m sorry but I won’t be much help.

The way that I understand it, your hostname “mailpoet1._domainkey.ftina.eu.” already has the period at the end of the string, which is what my problem was.

I don’t have any suggestions for anything different to try.

    Hi @fronimitis,

We don’t typically monitor resolved threads so I’d recommend starting a new thread if you still need help.

In the meantime, I’d also recommend reviewing the documentation here:
