Hello! I have connected the plugin to Digital Ocean Spaces through “S3-Compatible (Generic)” option and I’m having issues trying to download backup files from the remote server. This is what I get when I click on any download buttons:

    Remote fetch failed
    No local copy present.

When I go to DO Spaces, I see all backup zip files on the remote location. Expected result is to be able to download files within the plugin with no additional access requirements, so any admin can download those files whenever they want.

Current settings with no custom changes:

    • S3 access key: ***
    • S3 secret key: ***
    • S3 location: s3generic://website-backup/mysite
    • S3 end-point: mybackupsite.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com
    • Bucket access style: Path style
    • Signature version: SigV4
    • Split archives every: 400 MB (I even tried lowering to 25 MB with no luck)
    • Delete local backup: Checked
    • Files backup schedule: Manual
    • Database backup schedule: Manual

I tried this using WPEngine and NameHero servers with WP 6.4.2, UpdraftPlus 1.23.16 and PHP 8.2.14.

Let me know if you need additional info. Thank you in advance!

    Hi,

Can you please confirm that when you create a backup it successfully completes? If yes, can you send us a copy of the backup log.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Hi Bryle, yes it does complete successfully. Please check out the log file at https://codefile.io/f/K3gAbbJLv0

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Thanks for testing and for sending the log.

Now if you try to repeat the process for the backup you just did you experience the same issue?

    Thanks,
    Bryle

Hi Bryle, yes I still get the same issue, trying to generate the backup several times.

I also tested on a fresh WP by installing “UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore” (free version) version 1.23.16 and setting up the basic options: S3-Compatible (Generic), S3 keys, S3 location and S3 end-point with no other changes and still see the same problem.

    Thank you!

In the first instance (depending on where the backup is stored), can you press these two links in the backup/restore tab: https://snipboard.io/LmxilA.jpg

If this doesn’t help can you download the backups from wherever they are stored and upload them in the backup/restore tab?

Hi Vupdraft, yes those two buttons work with no issues.

I also tried downloading from the remote server and uploading again, this works fine but the ultimate goal is to use those all download buttons by any admin without having to access the remote location manually.

Testing on several websites with basic configuration as pointed above, I always get the same message:

    Remote fetch failed
    No local copy present.

Is this a bug or do you know why that feature does not work? Do you see anything wrong with the log file sent previously?

    Thank you!

    Your backup looks really good.

Can you open the JS console whilst trying to retrieve the backup and take a screenshot of any errors. Can you do another backup and try downloading that backup us well, do you get the same issue?

Hi there and sorry for late reply.

Please take a look at this screenshot. https://snipboard.io/LNMVcD.jpg I’m still getting the same issue. Thank you!

Hi there! I’m still getting the same issue with latest free version: 1.24.1

    Download db (Mar 01, 2024 1:29):
    db:
    Remote fetch failed
    No local copy present.

Please let me know if there’s anything that I should change or if this is a bug. Thank you!

I don’t see anything in your screenshot that sets of alarm bells.

Can you try running a fresh backup and see if you get the same issue retrieving backups.

Can you also send us your php error logs?

    (@psychopsia)

Unfortunately it continues to fail even after running a fresh backup. Also tried this feature on a fresh WP install or reinstalling the plugin on an existing site.

PHP error log does not show anything related to the plugin’s code from clicking to retrieve an existing backup from DO’s server.

I guess this is an issue with the DigitalOcean Spaces’ integration. Please let me know if there’s a workaround for this. Thank you!

Have you contacted their support, if so what did they say?

    Thread Starter psychopsia

    (@psychopsia)

I’m using the free version and I believe their support is for paid customers, so I haven’t contacted them yet.

I was trying to confirm this plugin works fine on DO Spaces before buying the paid version.

Do you recommend to reach out their support team without an order number? https://updraftplus.com/paid-support-requests/

Unfortunately, I do think there is an issue with Digital Oceans. I have attempted to reach out to their support.

I would recommend that you do contact them as well as the more noise that is made, the more likely they are to take action.

I just tested on free version 1.24.2 and this issue still occurs, after running a fresh backup then click on any buttons to download files, I get this message.

    Download plugins (Mar 28, 2024 0:40):
    plugins:
    Remote fetch failed
    No local copy present.

Have you tried to reproduce this problem on your end? I guess this is something related to UpdraftPlus plugin, not DO Spaces platform.

    Thank you!
