[Plugin: SexyBookmarks] shr-sprite.png adds adds 3.8 seconds

    My site is hosted in Australia. When I run a “pingdom” test on it, the sexybookmarks’ main image, shr-sprite.png, is listed as being 212.1KB in size and adding 3.8 seconds to my page loading time.

    Considering I only use a handful of the social media icons in that image, this is a wasteful method of displaying them.

    I realize this may save on some coding, but in today’s impatient world, this single image ads over 20% of wait time for a potential reader and thus hurts my site’s performance.

    I would really appreciate a change to this method that will speed things up.

    Hi Gal,

    Take a look at the latest version of SexyBookmarks (by Shareaholic). The plugin now generates a custom sprite image based on the services you have actually selected to show at setup.

    So if you have 5 services selected, the sprite will only contain images for the 5 services vs. all 50+! This dramatically reduces the file size, and makes everything speedy again.
