This is a relatively new photo sharing system built for selfhosted management of a photo collection. There appears to be a robust API developed already. I’m running it and really love it. I would love to be able to share photos, albums, and people (AI recognized groups of photos) to WordPress.

I’d be interested in helping out but don’t want to start from scratch. Checking through the code briefly online doesn’t reveal the other photo service api code immediately.

If this is of interest let me know. I’ve done some development (it’s not my vocation) and testing and would be happy to contribute in any way.

Developing for any platform has a few prerequisites:

    1. Age of the platform
    2. Stability of the API
    3. Size of the user-base
    4. The overall fit of the platform with everything else that Photonic supports

I took a look at the link you provided – there is a banner at the top that says that the platform is under active development and is not very stable. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a big enough user-base at the moment, particularly in terms of a cross-section with WP.

I would ideally wait at least a couple of years before I start supporting this, since the addition of each platform needs a good bit of effort and a significant amount of maintenance from my side. Also, several similar platforms that I had contemplated supporting in my roadmap in 2011 (when I launched Photonic) ceased development within a few years or lost steam (e.g. ZenPhotos, Coppermine etc.). In fact, I have had to pull support for other professional platforms too, such as 500px (they closed off their API), or Instagram (which mandated that to develop for their API, I have to own a business). Currently, Zenfolio seems to be tottering, as they released a refreshed platform a few years back, but no new API to connect to it (similar to how Google had nothing to connect to Google Photos when they announced that they would be sunsetting Picasa).

So, for now, I don’t intend to support this. If the platform continues to thrive, I will reconsider in a few years.

Thank you for your clear and considered response and thank you for photonic. I’ll be here in a couple of years if it survives…
