    Hi there,

I’ve run into a small issue with a few users.

I’m using profile builder’s reset password functionality. The entire process works for most users. However, some users have a user name with space in it, e.g. ‘Stan Smith’. I’ve found that this blank space in the username leads to an incorrect link in the password reset link in the password reset email. For example:
    https://www.sitename.com/login/?key=Xxu1OePU2pasdfasa&login=stan smith

I noticed that in the past the login parameter with the username was not added to the link. So I wanted to check if this issue might be related to Profile Builder and if so what steps I could take to resolve it.

    Thanks!

    Hi @freekwp,

I have checked the reset password form on a test site and I was able to reset the password without any issues, I use the username Stan Smith.

What browser were you using when you encountered this issue?

Please go to WordPress Dashboard-> Plugins-> Installed Plugins-> and send a screenshot with everything you have installed related to PB.

You can use a site like https://snipboard.io/ to share the screenshots.

    Hi madalinaruzsa,

Thanks for investigating this. I just checked with the latest version of Profile Builder and encountered the issue both with Firefox and Chrome.

Here’s an example of what happens in the email:

Here’s the screenshot of the installed plugin (nothing else except the base plugin):

    Hi @freekwp,

Could you please send me a link to the register form and the recover password form so I can check this issue? As I said on my test site even if my link is something like: login=ruzsa mada I can reset my password without any issue.

I also created a task for the development team to investigate what we can do to eliminate the space from the link.

    Hi madalinaruzsa,

Thanks for getting back to me! I’m happy to hear the development team will look into this.

I don’t have a registration form where users can choose a username. Accounts are automatically created on checkout. (Which sometimes creates a username with a space, and sometimes doesn’t.) Come to think of it, does Profile Builder affect how usernames are created?

If you have an email address I can use, I could create an account for you though so you can troubleshoot.

    Hi @freekwp.

No, the Profile Builder does not affect how the username is created.

You can use: [email protected] and as username please use my name: Ruzsa Madalina

After you will add me on your site please send a link to your recover password page.

    Regards,

    Hi Ruzsa,

Thanks, I’ve created a user account for you. You can reset the password here:
    https://www.stringkick.com/login/

    Just click ‘forgot your password’.

Thanks for your efforts in investigating this!

    Hi @freekwp,

Could you please send the PB settings? Please install the “Import and Export Settings Addon” from Profile Builder –> Add-ons. Then export your Profile Builder settings and send the file. I want to try to replicate this issue on a site of mine.

Please send the PB settings file to [email protected].
