Can someone please help? The site I am referring to is inkinthirds.org and I have not recently made any changes or added or deleted any plugins. All of a sudden, all of my comments that are “held for moderation” are no longer emailed to my admin address or the address of the post author. Where are the comments going? They are not in spam. They are not in any folders or my inbox. They simply are no longer being sent, or so it seems. Why are they not being sent so I can manually approve them via email like I did before? I now have to log into the website and go to the comment section to see the comments awaiting moderation. How do I get them to come to my email again?

    1. Check Email Settings:
      • Verify that your email notification settings in the WordPress dashboard are configured correctly. Go to Settings > Discussion and ensure that the boxes for email notifications are checked.
    2. Check Spam Folder:
      • Even though you mentioned checking the spam folder, it’s worth checking again. Sometimes, email providers may filter messages to spam without your knowledge.
    3. Email Service Configuration:
      • If your website is configured to use a specific email service, check if there are any issues with that service. Ensure that the email sending functionality is working properly.
    4. SMTP Plugin:
      • If you are using an SMTP plugin for sending emails, make sure it is configured correctly. Incorrect settings could lead to email delivery issues.
    5. WordPress Updates:
      • Ensure that your WordPress installation, themes, and plugins are up to date. Outdated software can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
    6. Server Email Logs:
      • Check the server email logs to see if there are any error messages related to the email notifications. Your hosting provider should be able to assist you with this.
    7. Email Address Verification:
      • Make sure that the email addresses for the admin and post author are correctly entered and verified in the WordPress user profiles.
      • Or to verify if the email address is valid try No2bounce it’s a mail validation platform to validate your mails.
    8. Plugin Conflict:
      • Although you mentioned not making recent changes, conflicts can still arise. Temporarily deactivate all plugins, except the essential ones, and see if the issue persists. If the problem is resolved, reactivate each plugin one by one to identify the conflicting one.
    9. Theme Compatibility:
      • Switch to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Twenty-One) to rule out any theme-specific issues.
    10. Contact Hosting Support:
      • If all else fails, reach out to your hosting provider’s support team. They may be able to identify any server-level issues affecting email delivery.

Remember to back up your website before making any significant changes, and if you’re unsure, it might be best to seek professional assistance.

I have literally done ALL of those things. I am receiving all other emails. All comment emails on the posts are coming through to both the admin and author of the post email accounts, except for the ones held in MODERATION. I need to find out why the ones held in “moderation” that are clearly not SPAM are not being sent via email?

Can someone please help with this?

Is there anyone that can help? There must be a glitch/bug or something I am missing somewhere. I AM receiving all other emails from WordPress regarding the site, comments (that have been previously approved), and anything via all the WP Forms on my site.

The comments held for Moderation are the only ones not being sent anywhere I can find! And I need to know when people leave a comment, so I can approve immediately. They used to come through just fine. But just stopped for some reason. (see above—as I have done all the basic troubleshooting).

Is there a way to have someone look into this?

I have exactly the same problem.

I have the PostSMTP plugin, and can view the e-mail log there.
I can see that no mail is sent when a comment is placed.

However, under ‘Discussions’, I checked both ‘Send me an e-mail when someone places a comment’, and ‘Send me an e-mail when a comment waits for moderation’.

    These e-mails are not sent.

All other e-mails are sent, though, and I do receive them.

This must be a bug in WordPress.

I installed https://betternotificationsforwp.com/, (hoping that mightt solve the problem).

When I choose to add a new notification for “New Comment Awaiting Moderation”, and ask to add the standard content, the plugin tells me that WordPress does not have standard content for this notification.

That tells me that WordPress indeed does not send any notification when a new comment is placed (in my case, all comments should be moderated before being published).

I have the same problem. I don’t receive any email notification when a new comment is on the site. ??
