    Hey there ??

    Thanks for reaching out!

It looks like you want to add 3 additional fields in the WooCommerce checkout block, correct?

While there is no built-in option to achieve this, and I am not aware of any checkout field editing plugin that is currently compatible with the checkout block, would you mind sharing what custom fields you are trying to add so that we can take a closer look at how you can achieve this?

    Looking forward to your response!

    Hey, @abhay-ra!

    Thanks for the information!

As you mentioned, you can use a plugin for this.

We recommend using Checkout Field Editor, as it is the official WooCommerce plugin for this, and we will be able to assist you with it if you need it.

If you want to check other options, you can search for “woocommerce checkout editor“, or something similar, on the Plugins > Add New section of your dashboard or on a search engine like Google, for example.

Please note that we do not provide support for third-party plugins, so it is good to check the plugin thoroughly to see if it is reliable. You can find more about this in this guide.

    I hope this helps.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi @abhay-raj,

Looking at the list of incompatible plugins, it’s clear that the Checkout Field Editor plugin doesn’t work well with the checkout block: https://woo.com/document/cart-checkout-blocks-status/#section-11

However, you may need to tweak the checkout block with some custom code to extend it. This task is a bit outside our support policy, but don’t worry! We’ve got some resources that can help you out:

Alternatively, you can use the checkout shortcode instead of block: https://woo.com/document/woocommerce-shortcodes/#checkout

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get the job done.

@shameemreza Your responses are very confusing. Please don’t refer to the old shortcode….

    • The original question was about the checkout block
    • There are currently no plugins or simple solutions available to extend the block based checkout with new fields
    • This is really annoying and frustrating:
      • Woo is advertising the new block based checkout
      • even if it is not compatible with Woos own API or expensive plugins

With the old checkout, it was super easy to add some fields. Now I have to invest hours for creating a bloated block, just for one input field.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Gutenberg, and I’m using it for all new projects. But this kind of thing makes it frustrating, it is time-consuming and expensive. I need a new technology and whole build pipeline, I’ve never used before…

    Hi @abhay-raj,

    I understand your frustrations.

We acknowledge that the block-based checkout currently has limitations compared to the shortcode-based checkout, especially when it comes to extending with new fields. We’re actively working on improving this aspect, and your feedback is valuable in that process.

In the meantime, I understand that the resources provided earlier might not be the simple solution you were hoping for. They do, however, provide a more technical route to achieving the customization you’re looking for. If you’re uncomfortable with this approach, you may need to consider hiring a developer who can help you with these customizations.

As for the compatibility issues with WooCommerce’s API or plugins, we’re aware of these challenges and are actively working on making our new features more compatible and user-friendly.

I hope this clarifies your concern. If you have any other questions, feel free to start your own topic.

    Thanks!
