    Dear support team,

I am happily using your plugin, thanks for the great work.

Since I need to load many posts I am using “WP All Import” which works very well with your plugin.

But it happens that I cannot get access to the following fields / parameters which I would need to set, otherwise the bulk import misses a large part:

These are the fields that I also cannot see from the WordPress dashboard, otherwise I could do a bulk edit there:
    Associated Group
    – Group Folders
    – Tags
    – Parent
    – (Access Rights which would not be so important)

Is there a way to get access to these fields via WP All Import?
Or are you aware of any other plugin that can bulk upload / write these fields?

    Thanks a lot

Hello, and thanks for the ticket.

BuddyPress Docs stores its data using WP’s Custom Post Type system. As such, certain parts of the import process should “just work” with WP All Import. This includes: tags, parent, access rights, folders.

However, associated groups might break during the import. That’s because the “associated group” feature in buddypress-docs is powered by a custom taxonomy called bp_docs_associated_item. Within that taxonomy, terms have the form bp_docs_associated_group_68, where 68 is the ID of the BuddyPress group.

I’m unsure how (or whether?) WP All Import natively supports the import of BuddyPress Groups. Assuming it does, it’s possible that the group IDs would be changed during the import process. If so, then the group association will break.

To fix this, we’d need to have some sort of custom tool for BP and/or for BuddyPress Docs. It looks like this is possible https://www.wpallimport.com/documentation/addon-dev-overview/ but I’m afraid I don’t have the resources to implement it at the moment.

As I reread your post, perhaps you are not actually importing from another BuddyPress installation, but are simply trying to load a bunch of documents into a BuddyPress group. If so, it’s likely that WP All Import would need a custom tool (like described above) to set up all the metadata properly.

As you suggest, bulk actions in the Dashboard would be a pretty good workaround for this limitation. I’ve got a ticket to track this request: https://github.com/boonebgorges/buddypress-docs/issues/156 I can’t commit to building it in the near future, but it wouldn’t be overly hard to do for a qualified developer.

Sorry I can’t be of more direct help.
