Alphabetizing Categories in 1.5/Default

I’m running WP 1.5 and using the default template. I’d like to change my categories to sort alphabetically on my main page. I went into sidebar.php and found the list_cats call, and saw that it was already set to sort_column by name. After searcing in the archives and reading thorugh all the posts I found with Mthis search, I found that the default template only sets 17 of the 18 variables in list_cats, so I set the last one to 1.

But no change. This is what the list_cats call looks like:
