    Hi,
I have been using your free version of Yoast for years and it has worked perfectly until now.

Unfortunately, now after upgrading the site to the latest wp theme, using the Events Calendar and Woocommerce Memberships plugin, your plugin is causing an epic failure on my site when activated, which means that when users click on any link that requires access to membership and in fact any other page links that are not behind a subscriber wall, are coming up with a server error:

    This page isn’t working
https://www.smoothmind.com redirected you too many times.
    Try deleting your cookies.
    EE_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

I investigated the issue initially to my host, who spent hours trying to remediate this until I realised after further investigation with them that it was related to Yoast plugin trying to redirect a URL I use from the Events calendar, which caused a repeat loop and this function to occur.

After deactivating your plugin the issue stopped.

Again to be sure again today, I reactivated your plugin and it totally failed with the redirect issue again so I had to deactivate it again.

Currently I can’t reactivate back your plugin since it causes this critical failure of my site.

Is there anything you can do to prevent the conflict or resolve the issue so that I can switch it back on, or do you recommend I seek to find another SEO plugin?

    Thanks

    Hi,
I did some further diagnosis analysis on chrome developer console and it looks like this might be causing the issue in case it helps:

    Error: suggestionsSummaryListHeader is not defined

    Hello @graichura,

I’m sorry about your recent experience.

If a page redirects unexpectedly or causes a redirect loop only when our plugin is active, this means?a redirect has been added to our plugin. You can learn about how to fix it here.

However, if you can still not resolve it, I can imagine that deactivating plugins or switching themes on your production site isn’t the best way to go. Do you have or would you be willing to set up a staging environment to run additional tests without interfering with your live site? A staging environment is a copy of your site on your server that allows you to implement and test changes without affecting your live site. Some popular web hosts offer quick setups for a staging site. Please contact your web host to see if this option is available for your site. You can create a staging site using a WordPress plugin if your web host does not offer staging environments.

    Hi @maybellyne,

Thanks for coming back to me, I have been pulling my hair out all day trying to resolve this. It now seems to be working. Just before you messaged me, while I had your plugin deactivated, I made sure the .htaccess was refreshed and re-saved the permalinks. After reading your message, I reactivated your plugin, went to my site, tried to access the links and they now seem to be working again, so you have brought some magic my way ??

Interestingly, I was doing everything in staging before making the site live. This issue only started once I put it into production, so I had no choice but to working on remediating it live unfortunately.

Thanks again for the quick response here!

I think we can mark this off as resolved for now.

Hi @maybellyne, I spoke too soon. The problem is still occurring, so I followed your instructions about the curl test to see where the problem is coming from. Basically it’s impacting most URLs, so I took the first URL it happened on.

    Hi @maybellyne,

Okay, so I followed the instructions in your post and saw that the recommendation for ‘additional settings’ setting was opposite to what I had previously selected. So I adjusted it by enabling it to show the categories prefix in the slug and now it seems to to be fixed again.

Hopefully this time round, the problem won’t occur again.

    Thanks
