We just updated to version 8.6.0 and this caused critical errors on our website. The error was linked to the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin and happened every time we tried to view / edit a subscription. When we were able to view an existing subscription there was nothing there.

We have now reverted back to the previous version 8.5.2 and the issue has stopped.

  • Hello,
Is the Subscription up to date ? I have the version 6.0 installed with the latest version of woocommerce and no problem to view/edit

No our version of WooCommerce Subscriptions isn’t up to date, we can’t afford to spend £200 a year for a plugin that already does what we need it to. This is one of the issues using WooCommerce, you are forced to update the plugins regularly and there doesn’t seem to be any benefit to this.

I understand. One of my customers is paying for this update and I had already noticed that updates were necessary to access hpos.

    Hi folks,

the issue you are seeing may be related to the:

[Fix in progress] Stores with Woo Subscriptions started getting fatal errors when adding or editing a subscription in WP Admin.

mentioned in the recent developer advisory post.

@sw231 I hear you on that. We’re using an older version that works just fine too.

Ok, was getting pretty concerned on this issue but at least we know the source of it now and it’s being addressed by WooCommerce.

    Hi @gunas1867,

That’s great to hear! Thanks for letting us know.

Hi @sw231, How about your issue? Does this still continue? Did you follow all the other solutions shared on our dev blog?

Additionally, I understand that the cost can be a concern. However, running outdated versions of plugins can expose your site to potential security risks and compatibility issues like the one you experienced.

Also, please note that the updates often include important security patches, performance improvements, and new features, which can help ensure your site runs smoothly and securely.

I hope this clarifies your concern. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Hi @shameemreza, we’ve reverted back to the previous version of WooCommerce (8.5.2) because we know that works. We’ll wait for the issue to be resolved before we try again.

I understand what you’re saying about keeping plugins up to date but that’s hard when they are updated every month. At £200 per year for each plugin this would cost us thousands every year and we can’t afford that. If plugin developers were really concerned with the security of their plugins they would provides security patches for free.

    Hi @sw231,

I’m glad to know that downgrading helped solve your problem.

We’ve just released an update today. Why not upgrade WC to the latest version and check if everything’s working smoothly? More info: https://developer.woo.com/2024/02/20/woocommerce-8-6-1-fixes-to-issues-introduced-in-8-6-0/
