I am building a website with WP 6.4.3 and Twenty Twenty One theme where I build a child theme… I know since wordpress 6.4 , “Create reusable block” and “Create patterns” are mixed simply to “Create Patterns”… so I create a pattern and I called it “cta_courses” in a new page, but then I deleted it.

So I created another page and looked in patterns list and I still see there that “cta_courses”… I thought there would be Pattern Blocks menu under Appearance but I don’t see it… is it maybe a bug related to the fusion between “Create Reusable Block” and “Create Pattern” ? At least is there a workaround like a possible plugin to manage patterns list?…

Thanks to all in advance! Cheers! Luigino

What we had called reusable blocks are now patterns. There are two kinds of patterns. Ones defined by your theme or a plugin, and ones you create yourself. To manage your patterns, use the editor’s 3 dot icon and pick “Manage patterns” or go to /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wp_block. Your patterns will be listed there, and there’s an “Add new pattern” button where you can create your own new patterns.

If you delete a pattern here, it’s in trash or it’s gone. Deleted patterns should no longer appear under “My patterns” in the block insertion dialog. I’m not sure how you thought you deleted a pattern, but it’s apparently not through the manage patterns screen.

If you want to remove a pattern added by your theme or plugin, it needs to be unregistered after it is initially registered.

I’m new to this as well. Are you saying that blocks and patterns are the same thing? I’ve been reading that patterns are collections of multiple blocks. Is that the case?
