How to hide category from Recent Posts widget?

    I’ve been trying to find a way to keep one category from showing up in the Recent Posts widget, without luck. I’ve also searched high and low for a plugin that will do this. There are lots of plugins to hide posts, but they still show up in the Recent Posts listing. Will I have to hack the widget itself? Or is there an easier solution?
