[I may have used CSS to remove a button or link. I can’t use breadcrumbs because the chapter titles are so long, they end up over 3 lines and push the whole layout out of alignment.]

I have 16 categories (or chapters). Form the main docs page, the person can click to explore one chapter. But if that Chapter doesn’t meet their needs, there is no way to review the next chapter. They can only click the back button, and that’s not at all intuitive.

I thought that the “Other docs” section would meet this, they could find other chapters, but although there is a hover on the title implying a link, it doesn’t link to the category? Is there meant to be a button on these?

I have adjusted your layout, and I don’t use Elementor. My page builder won’t let me add widgets.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi In Touch Consulting

I hope you are fine today.
I understand your concern, and there is no back button for the handbook layout, but, while clicking explore more from a specific category, visitors have the scope to browse other categories from the sidebar. Please check the screencast, https://d.pr/v/shAdFu do here they dont need to go back from that category.
But, from your shared link, I dont see this, are you using a shortcode here? Also, I am sorry, I am not clear about third paragraph “I thought that the “Other docs” section would meet this,?…..” A relevant screencast/ screenshot will be helpful for me to understand the scenario.

    Thanks & regards

If you look at this Archive page, there are 4 “Other Docs” in the blocks at the end. It would be wonderful if these headings on the blocks were clickable and one could jump to other chapters?

    Hi In Touch Consulting?

I think you are talking about the “popular chapter” section, can you please tell me how you displayed these? Are you using shortcode? Actually, how you display load more feature in here, some more information will be helpful for me to reply to you specifically.

    Thanks

    Sorry, let me explain further.

    https://letsopendoors.intercomm.co.za/chapter/about-this-guide/

On the above page, “Popular Documents” are shown at the bottom of the page. The Titles for each Popular Document have a hover effect, which implies they are clickable and you can go to that chapter.

On mine, there is no link? Perhaps this is a setting. It would be useful if these headings were clickable so if the person sees the exact answer they are looking for, they can jump to it.

I use your default layouts as I don’t use a page-builder. I think the popular documents panel is set under “Customize” – I turn it on.

    Hi Amin,

With reference to the sidebar. Yes, all the categories show perfectly on the pages on a desktop, but when people use their phone there is no sidebar.

Therefore on a phone it’s difficult to jump to a different category. I have used breadcrumbs which allows them jump back to the “Archive” of all categories, and then move to a completely different category. On a phone it would be nice to have an offscreen mobile menu.

I managed to add the categories manually to the existing offscreen mobile menu. My theme is not very friendly for Betterdocs, and perhaps I should try yours! (My theme is Colibri, which is great for design, but conflicts with some things in betterdocs)

    Hi @intercommsa,

    Greetings. Hope you’re doing good.

I have reviewed your messages. Regarding the sidebar feature on mobile screen, we’re very sorry! actually, it was never a part of our design on mobile screen, as the screen size is small, it doesn’t look good if we add the sidebar on mobile.

    Hi Amit,

I was unable to install the zipped file, it said “incompatible archive”.

Should I unzip it directly to the file folder on the server? I’m working with a live website, so I’m a bit nervous.

I have since updated to version 3.1.0 via WordPress. Is this the correct version?

    Hi In Touch Consulting

    I hope you are fine.
Actually, we have shared with you the free version of the BetterDocs plugin, https://d.pr/f/y3La9h
Yes, you can unzip it directly to the file folder on the server, this is a dev version of the plugin, it should not affect on your live site.

BetterDocs 3.1.0? is the Pro version, free plugin latest version is 3.4.2

    Sorry for the delayed reply.

    Thanks

The related documents are also excellent.

Is there a way to show the File Title rather than the file name as the settings parameter?
