I just found out that customers get an invoice email that has the wrong business name (legal entity name) in it. But there is no way to change it? Where does it pull the name from?

  • Hello @tristan1970,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The business name displayed on the invoice emails sent to your customers is usually pulled from the ‘General’ settings of your WooCommerce store.

Here’s how you can change it:

    1. Go to your WordPress dashboard.
    2. Navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > General.
    3. In the ‘Store Address’ section, you’ll find a field for your store’s name. Please ensure this field reflects the correct legal entity name.
    4. Click ‘Save Changes’ to update the information.

Let us know if this helps.

Hi. I expected to be able to change it there, but I cannot find that field? Can you please share a screenshot where to look?

Because when I look under under Woocommerce >> Settings >> General, there is no such field??
There are only fields related to the store address (Address line 1, Address line 2, … etc.)

    Hey, @tristan1970!

Just to confirm, what you want to change is this I have highlighted on an email from my store, correct?

If this is the case, you can change it by going to Settings > General (not WooCommerce > Settings > General, but the general site settings). It should be under the Tools option on the left sidebar on the dashboard.

There you will be able to change the Site Title.

If this is not what you are trying to change, can you please share a screenshot so we can better understand your goal?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Hi there! Thanks for your quick response!

That is indeed exactly what I am trying to change: The entity named the subject of the email to the customer, and it also says “Receipt from [entity name] in the body text.

The weird thing is that on my site the Settings > General (not WooCommerce > Settings > General has the correct name.

But the email customers get have a different name on the title.

So, my site settings at Settings > General in the ‘site title’ field has ‘legal entity name A’, but my customers get an email saying “Your [DIFFERENT ENTITY NAME]’s order is complete”

Here is where my site name sits:

But the order confirmed email shows an entirely different name:

You can see that a totally different name is pulled in??

    Hello tristan1970

Thank you for your reply and for sharing screenshot.

After looking at the screenshot of the email, I noticed that this email is quite different from a default WooCommere email.

Could you please confirm it was sent by your site?
You can check the FROM field and and match it with the other confirmation emails you receive from the site like New Order and Completed Order.

For more details, you can check the WooCommerce → Settings → Emails.
You will find settings for all the emails that are sent out of WooCommerce.

Please let me know about your findings. ??

    Hi Zubair,

…. It turns out Stripe has been sending customer invoices ??

For some reason they add a different entity than what is on file. But I will let them fix it.

Apologies for the inconvenience, thanks for the help!
