    Hi.

My client has Paid Membership Subscriptions Pro installed on his website. He has recently started receiving a lot of spam registrations via email:
Subject: A New User has registered to xxxx Website

yqCtkmfPVdGjIzRS eMyYxauEj has just created an account! This person is then registered as a subscriber on the website.

The “Anyone can Register” checkbox under Settings>General is unchecked.

I am not sure how this is happening, but please can you advise how it can be prevented.

    Thank you.

    Hi @fionder,

First of all, I just want to mention that the below information also applies to the users who have the Free version of our plugin (the issue mentioned is not related only to the Pro users). The email customization functionality from our plugin is also available in the Free version.

From what you’re describing, that is not a default email that our plugin sends, but in order to check this:

    1. Could you please go to your site’s Dashboard -> Paid Member Subscriptions -> Settings -> E-Mails -> Administrator Emails -> and send a full screenshot from there (please make sure all the settings from that page can be seen)?

    2. Could you please share a screenshot of the spam email your client received?

Note: Please make sure that in both cases, sensitive information like email addresses or real names are blurred/hidden from the screenshots.

Note 2: You can use a site like https://snipboard.io/ to share the screenshots.

Now when it comes specifically to our plugin (specifically to the forms created with our plugin), we have two features that help with preventing spam registrations:

    1. Recaptcha functionality. Found in Paid Member Subscriptions -> Settings -> Misc -> reCaptcha. You can read more about this here.
    2. Honeypot field. Found in Paid Member Subscriptions -> Settings -> Misc -> Others -> Honeypot Field. You can read more about this here.

Note: Again, I want to mention that both of these features are also available for our Free users.

    Best regards,
