I have 9 to 10 variations for most products on my site. I wish to hide some color variations of some products. When I only unchecked the ‘Enabled’ checkbox, the variations still appear in the dropdown and when clicked ‘it shows a message somewhat like ‘product chosen does not exist’. This type of message or even ‘Out of stock’ don’t look good. I want the vriations to not appear at all.

Next, I exported my catalog in csv and then wrote ‘Hidden’ in the column ‘Visible in Catalog’. I then imported the catalog back into my site, but it seems the column ‘Visible in catalog’ remains ‘visible’ in all rows and the change to ‘Hidden’ that I made in some rows either get reversed or don’t happen at all.

Can anyone please help me in making these variations not visible in the dropdown at all? I would like to do this without any plugin but if there is no other way then please recommend one.

    Hi @mjaitly123,

When you uncheck the “Enabled” checkbox, it doesn’t remove the variation from the dropdown; it just disables it. That’s why you see the “product chosen does not exist” message.

As for the “Visible in Catalog” issue, the “Hidden” status might not be applied due to a possible import error. When importing the CSV file, please correctly map the “Visibility” column.

If you’re open to using a plugin, Hide Variations by User Roles or WooCommerce Hide Products by User Roles might serve your purpose. It lets you hide specific products or variations, making them invisible to certain user roles.

Additionally, if you don’t want to use a plugin, you need to hire a developer to write custom code to customize it. In this case, you can seek help from the following:

I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get the job done.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
