    As the title suggests, WordPress is reporting a technical issue (by email) to me. It says:

    “In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, NextGEN Gallery” and gives this path where the error was caught

    /wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/src/Legacy/xml/media-rss.php

    All plugins are updated and I have disabled and re-enabled each to see if it resolves the issue. I also tried with a different theme. The site seems to work fine but this is being reported about 3 times a day.

    WordPress version 6.4.3
    Active theme: Storefront Child Theme (version 1.0.0)
    NextGEN Gallery (version 3.59)
    PHP version 7.4.33

    Any ideas?

  • I’m getting a huge number of errors in my php error log when anyone accesses the equivalent url on my site.

    Searching for the error message on google throws up dozens of pages full of it.

    While managing some gallery, I do receive a similar email with this information:

    Si vous cherchez de l’aide pour ce problème, les informations suivantes pourraient vous être demandées :
    WordPress version 6.4.3
    Thème actif : Twenty Twenty-Three (version 1.3)
    Extension actuelle : NextGEN Gallery (version 3.59)
    PHP version 8.2.17

    Still getting daily problems with the site. There was also this message inside my WordPress ‘technical issue’ email:

    An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 60 of the file /home/username/public_html/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/src/Util/Serializable.php. Error message: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes)

    Hi @vero44,

    I am glad to help.

    I would recommend you to delete NextGEN Gallery, then install a plugin like Transients Manager, then go to Tools > Transients and click delete all. Also install Docket Cache and from their menu item, click Flush OPcache and flush Object cache. Then install NextGEN Gallery again and see how it goes.

    Hi @jaimeimagely and thanks for the reply.

    Unfortunately, I have tried your suggestions and it didn’t work, I still have the same error daily.

    I didn’t fully delete the gallery, but I did deactivate the plugin, then cleared transients and caches and reactivated.

    Site is on a VPS with plenty of RAM & CPU power.

    Any other suggestions?

    Hi @vero44

    Deleting the plugins won’t affect your galleries. Most WordPress plugins work the same way.

    Your images are in a folder on the server and the info in the database.

    You can safely remove it. If you are unsure, you can always create a backup beforehand.

    I have seen issues go away with a simple reinstall and not only for NextGEN but for many plugins and even themes since I work with WordPress. And that is also why reinstalling the latest version is advised as basic troublethooting.

    Also, I do see you have PHP 7.4, you can try switching to PHP 8.x and see if that helps.
