Images hosted by WordPress (I believe) disappeared

  • At this blog post my photos have disappeared. I believe they were hosted with WordPress for efficiency’s sake. Is there any way of recovering them? Photos in other blog posts mentioned in that post seem to show up ok.

    Here’s one of the missing images:

    Please contact WP Engine support as this looks like it’s an issue with their CDN.,

    Thanks for your reply. I’m confused though. I just went and looked up WP Engine Support and found their site. They appear to be a WordPress hosting site. But I’m not using them. I don’t seem to have an account there.

    I also checked another post around the same time – https://lerner.net/final-volunteer-days-at-tokyo-2020-olympics/ – and the images are showing up there. But those image srcs are local to my blog.

    I wonder how wpengine got involved. If it’s not reversible, and if I can’t reach WPEngine Support (I’m not sure how) maybe I need to rebuild that post somehow?

    I can’t say how they got there. Yes, I think you’ll need to revisit that post.

    I seem to recall an option once to save images somewhere to optimize display/delivery and I clicked it. But I can’t find it now. Maybe they once had a free plugin just for that?

    No. You may be thinking of Jetpack, which uses a wordpress.com CDN to speed up serving images.
