Hi I just upgraded to Version 6.3.5 of the Events Calendar ?with PHP 8.2. I am working on the data migration and it seems to be stuck at the ‘Migration preview in progress’ but the blue bar shows finished with a checkmark. I understand from the video that there should be a ‘start migration’ button to move onto the next step but it’s just not showing up. At the top of the upgrade screen it does say ‘Your calendar’s design has changed’ bt when I open the page on our website there is a critical error notice. https://emeraldpacificyachts.com/events/ any help would be appreciated.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @jwilly1111,

Thank you for reaching out to us about this here on the forum.

Have you had a look at our Migrating to the New Event Data System knowledgebase article, paying particular attention to the “Troubleshooting” section? Please let me know if you are still experiencing these issues after taking a look.

Still having issues with the migration. The Code Snipet solution got me past the preview stage and onto the migration but the Upgrade tab says all 24 events have been migrated, first image, but that the Migration is still in process, has been running in an open browser window for 4.5 hours. Click any other option under events and get the Migration in process image 2. The event page on the website says critical error. I continue to let the migration run but it does not seem to be getting any further.

    Hey @jwilly1111,

Sorry to hear that your migration is still not working for you.

    Let’s keep working:

Please check out your debug log and look for any anomalies there. In particular search for the string “generated an error” as sometimes that can point to the ID of an event that has corrupted data and is stalling out the process.

When you look at Scheduled Actions, are any of them Failed? That could also point to events that are problematic.

It’s possible that your database change could impact the migration. Please go to Events > Settings > Troubleshooting and look at your System Information. It would be helpful for me to know what it says under Custom Tables Migration Status and Custom Tables Health Check (example).

Could you also try the following before re-running the migration again? I suggest conducting the following on a Staging Server first.

    • Make sure that WP_Cron is enabled. Some hosts disable WP_Cron by default.
    • Activate only our plugins and ensure you have the latest versions.
    • Install and activate a basic theme (e.g. WP’s 2020 theme)
    • Remove any un-needed draft events and empty the Trash
    • Go to Events > Settings > Upgrades and go through the migration process again.

If that doesn’t help, could you provide the versions of the following? This will help us understand how your system is set up.

    • PHP
    • WordPress
    • The Events Calendar
    • Theme

    Peace!

    Cron is enabled.

I search the de-bug log for ‘generated an error’ nothing showed up.

ce I have had issues with this migration do you have a previous version, before migration, that I could install?

    Hi @jwilly1111,

Thanks for the info and for following the recommended steps.

Please try the migration on PHP 8.0 while also following all the other recommendations above.

In terms of downgrading versions, the pre 6.0 versions are pre-migration. They are available at https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/the-events-calendar/advanced/.

    Best,
    John

Thank you John, I have tried PHP versions 8.2 and 8.1 so I will attempt 8.0. I have tried all of the suggestions above except disabling all plugins and attempting the migration then. I have scheduled that for a maintenance window this evening. Thank you for the help.

I attempted another migration while PHP 8.0 is running with the same results. Shows ‘Migration in progress’ and says ‘24?events migrated’ just the same as in the image above.

    Hi @jwilly1111

    Thanks for your message.

If you’re still experiencing issues with the migration, could you try to re-do the migration again by following the steps below and see if that helps?

    1. Update to the latest versions of The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro (if necessary).
    2. Remove any un-needed draft events and empty the Trash.
    3. Activate only our plugins and use the 2020 theme.
    4. Make sure server-side caching is disabled temporarily while you’re migrating your events.
    5. Install and activate the Code Snippets plugin.
    6. Add this snippet and run it once (be sure it does not stay activated).
    7. Go to Events > Settings > Upgrades and go through the migration process again.

Please re-do the migration on your staging site first to avoid unnecessary downtime to your live site.

Let me know how it goes.
