• My site won’t automatically update and every time I try to manually update to 6.5 I get this response:

The authenticity of wordpress-6.5-new-bundled.zip could not be verified as no signature was found.

I am also not able to install a backup plugin like Duplicator and I can’t update my theme. I am currently on 5.9.9. I’m not tech savvy but I’ve never had any problems with the site before. Can you help?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hallo @pangaea,

it sound’s that is a file permission error. You can set the File permission via your SFTP Client like Filezilla.

Here you can find some recommended settings for file permissions.

    Otherwise contact your Hoster.

The error message “The authenticity of wordpress-6.5-new-bundled.zip could not be verified as no signature was found” indicates that WordPress is unable to verify the authenticity of the update package. This could happen due to corrupted files or incorrect file permissions.

Make sure that the files and directories on your server have the correct permissions. Typically, directories should have permissions set to 755 and files to 644.

To rule out the likelihood of corrupted files, you may also try downloading the WordPress update package again from the official WordPress website and then attempt to update WordPress.

I’ve managed to resolve this issue. I had run out of Disk Space on my Bluehost package even though it was referred to as ‘unlimited’ space. I deleted some files but eventually I had to upgrade my hosting package and then I was able to update the WordPress version and my theme. The original wording on the error message was very misleading.

Glad to know that you managed to fix it eventually. I use Middlehost and their service is great, especially the support.

I can’t update to WordPress 6.5.5. I get an error message that says, “The authenticity of wordpress-6.5.5-partial-4.zip could not be verified as no signature was found.” Could not create directory. Installation failed. My website is https://sundancekidonline.com and I use theme Bard Pro. Thx

The same thing happened to me and after trying a few things I found out the disk space on my Bluehost package was full even though I was on an ‘unlimited’ package. Go to Bluehost and check to see if you have any disk space left. If not, you’ll need to upgrade storage just like I had to.
