    Hi,

I’m using Solid Security Basic Version 9.3.2 on WordPress 6.5. A little while ago, I went to ban the IP address of a persistent spambot, and found that after the recent update, the Banned IPs box does not refresh if I add or remove a ban: After either operation, the box is blank until I manually refresh the dashboard page. The changes are being implemented (I can see the added ban on the list after refreshing, and removed bans are gone from the list), but the box not updating itself is confusing and annoying, and refreshing the dashboard page (which takes a few seconds to load each time) is inconvenient. This wasn’t previously the case, so it appears to be a glitch introduced by a recent update.

(It’s been at least a month or two since I adjusted the ban list, so I don’t know for sure which update triggered it; this is the first time I’ve made ban changes since updating to WordPress 6.5.)

    Hi @ate-up-with-motor, happy to help!

Two things are happening on the Banned IPs card:

    • When you add an IP, the input form is left open (not blank) so you can add another IP, and clicking “Cancel” will take you back to the list view with the recently added IP showing.
    • When removing an IP, the card will show as blank, and you’ll need to refresh the page or visit other pages and go back for the list view to load.

We are aware of the above behavior that you’re experiencing and there is an open backlog ticket for enhancement about this (particularly the blank state), so rest assured this will be tackled by our team, although I’m unable to provide an ETA of when will it be released.

    I hope this information helps!

@shanedelierrr – On the first point, I want to stress that the screen is actually blank for me after entering a new IP ban. There’s no text, no input boxes, no indication that the initial IP address entered has been added to the list, no confirmation, and no error messages. The behavior you describe would make sense, but that isn’t what’s happening for me.

Hi @ate-up-with-motor, I see, thanks for clarifying!

Adding an IP to the card should not result in a blank state right after. Here’s a quick?demo?on how the card should behave by default.

Can you check if there are browser console errors when you add an IP to the card? I’d also suggest enabling WP Debug and checking for recent Solid Security errors on your debug.log file that can help us investigate this issue further.

Let me know what you can find!

I tried again a little while ago to add another ban, and this time it worked the way it was supposed to. Not sure what to make of that, but it seems okay now.
