    Hi,

We operate two WordPress websites on a shared server with upgraded CPU (to 600%) and more then adequate memory and storage resources. Lately we have noticed huge spikes to the CPU usage (mostly at 100% lasting several minutes), this seemed to be tied to looking up orders or more specifically WooCommerce bookings. (we run a hire business).

We put more investigation is and it seems the spike comes when looking up orders via the WooCommerce mobile App, which is integrated via Jetpack. The further research now points to Jetpack chewing up our CPU, causing 500 / 502 pages and generally grinds the website to a complete hault.

How do we fix this? Removing Jetpack solves one problem but introduces the fact that we regularly use the WooCommerce mobile app (when we collect orders we use this to mark them complete – which is convenient when you’re on the road).

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we’ve hired freelancers who are clueless as to how to solve the issue.

  • Hi @shortih,

Thanks for contacting us! I checked and the Jetpack connection for your website is not working properly. This may be one of the reason for the issue. The Jetpack connection is not working because we are not able to access the XML-RPC file on your webstie.

I’d suggest checking if you have any security plugins activated that might be blocking our requests. If not, try contacting your hosting provider and asking them to check their security logs to see if they are blocking or otherwise limiting incoming and outgoing connections over XML-RPC.

Jetpack uses this file to communicate with your site, but some hosts block connection requests to that file.

Our requests look like the following:

Please ask them to allowlist the IP addresses listed above. Note that these IP addresses could change (or more could be added) at any time, which could break your connection to Jetpack. For this reason, we actually discourage allowing specific IPs, although with some hosts it may be the only option.

Let us know how that goes.

    Hello @shortih,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
