My website was completely modified by starter template

    Hello everyone!

    Here is my problem:

    I have a WP installation created with Elementor which is armamostuweb.com/demos/.


    Within this installation I had several pages created. For example, armamostuweb.com/julian-yosovitch , armamostuweb.com/farmacia-rex, armamostuweb.com/arcoiris/ , etc.


    These pages are not related to each other. They are all excercises: landing pages and home pages that I have been creating with Internet WordPress tutorials to test Elementor′s resources and some other plugins like Premium Addons for Elementor and Ultimate Addon for Elementor.


    I also learned how to include checkpoints to check the responsiveness of each page on different devices. So I had 6 checkpoints instead of the 3 that come by default.


    Yesterday I installed a template from Starter Templates and I discovered that it modified those landing pages and homepages that I had created prior to ST installation

    Headings, fonts, colors are now different.  Fonts and font colors have been modified in all my pages. For example. in Julián Yosovitch – demos (armamostuweb.com) https://armamostuweb.com/demos/julian-yosovitch/ you would see some text in orange color while they had originally been set to a light-blue color.

    Those additional responsive checkpoints no longer appear – Only the 3 that come by default are showing up now.


    I don’t know if other settings have also been modified with this ST installation , and I don′t know how to double-check this either, so now this is of my greatest concern. 

    When I installed the template my idea was to create another landing page with this Starter Templates Template in much the same way as I created the others: I simply wanted to test ST and create something new with it without affecting my previous work.

    I would like to know if it is possible to recover the configurations as they were prior to installing the Starter templates template in order to avoid the work of modifying each page.

    I would like to return my whole website as it was , return all previously created pages to the settings prior to installing this template. And, if it is possible, to use the template to create another single page because I like it so much. Perhaps it is usefull to mention that the template I inserted is Home – BBQ Restaurant (websitedemos.net)

    Unfortunately I didn’t knlow that installing Starter Templates (at least the way I did) would create a completely new website. If I have installed it the wrong way, please let me know how to use a ST template on a single page without altering previous work. 

    I hope you can help me fix this issue.

    Hi @aflorarte, sorry for the delay.

    Importing a Starter Template will never remove the existing content. However, modified layout, color, font, etc is something expected as the Starter Template is coming with the Customizer Setting, if you opt to import it.

    Well, please refer to this doc to know how to restore the Customizer backup. However, if you don’t have the Customizer backup file as mentioned in the doc, unless you have the site backup, I am afraid that you can’t restore the previous Customizer Settings and configure it manually is the only option you have.

    Further, if you would like to import a single template, this doc will show you how.

    Apart from that, to avoid this such a situation, we always recommend importing a Starter Template on a new WordPress installation, as mentioned here.
