Photo gallery on page not post?

Is it possible to put a gallery on a page that functions in a similar way to the blog, but is just made out of pages? i.e. a 3 column set of thumbnails with titles, that when clicked lead to another page with more info, like a post??

I’ve been looking at page templates and wondered if this may be a better solution? Ideally a multi blog would do the trick but it looks way too complicated.
