Issue with Flash of Unstyled Content after enabling Guest Optimization

    Hello,

    I’ve recently implemented LiteSpeed Cache on our website to optimize performance, and I encountered an issue related to Flash of Unstyled Content (FOSC) after enabling Guest Optimization in the general settings.

    Problem Description:

    Upon enabling Guest Optimization, I noticed that the homepage of our website experiences a Flash of Unstyled Content (FOSC) issue. When accessing the homepage, there’s a brief moment (approximately 2-3 seconds) where the content appears unstyled before reverting to its proper appearance. This issue occurs inconsistently, affecting both desktop and mobile devices, sometimes only one or the other.

    Observations:

    • The FOSC issue is limited to the homepage; other pages appear unaffected.
    • Enabling Guest Mode alone does not cause the FOSC issue; however, it does not significantly improve the mobile speed score.
    • Enabling Guest Optimization along with Guest Mode improves speed scores on both desktop and mobile devices, but it triggers the FOSC issue.
    • Disabling Guest Optimization resolves the FOSC issue, but it significantly impacts the speed scores, particularly on mobile devices.
    • The “Generate UCSS” setting seems to be related to the FOSC issue, as enabling it causes the problem. Additionally, when testing settings individually, enabling Guest Optimization is the only way to improve the mobile speed score significantly.

    Additional Information:

    So at the end my question is, is there a way to use the Guest Optimization feature without getting the FOSC issue? If there any guide, information, insight I could use I would be really grateful. Plus if you need any other info or if I have to do anything please don’t hesitate to tell me, thank you ??

    if you go to page optm -> tuning css -> ucss exclude URI, add / into it , save and purge all , then with guest optm , how does it go ?

    I tried it and I can’t believe you fix it just in 1 look like that. It took me hours and it was driving me crazy honestly ??

    I still feel the mobile score is still not ideal, like in page speed insight the score got waaay better (in the 70 now) but checking manually, I still feel it takes quite a long time to load.

    But still I feel super grateful for this result, don’t know what else I could tweak to get better result. Unless you have another advice? ??

    Add Perfmatters plugin to disable CSS and JS in comibination with Litespeed. Also you could add a CDN and Redis Object cache if installed on your server. But what I see from the PageSpeed Inisight is your webhosting server not that good

    Just checked Perfmatters and turns out it paid plugin so can’t use that right now. Will keep it in mind tho when I have the budget for it.

    About the hosting I do feel like it super slow, but right now there’s no option to upgrade so I have to make do with it. And I think I’ll try to add the CDN and Redis because it’s free and my hosting should have the option (if I’m not mistaken).

    Anyway thank you guys for the help and insight, really fixed the issue!
