I call them Frankenstein templates because they haven’t originated in the current theme. I am rebuilding a Woocommerce site, migrating it to the latest version from Woocommerce 2.6.4. To retain some of the custom functionality in the previous site I have moved the template files over to the new theme Divi from the old theme Suave 1.3.1 child theme. It actually all works fine but Woocommerce wants me to update the templates. What can I do here, can I manually edit these template files to update them or what else should I do? I looked at the instructions online but they rely on me having updated versions from the previous theme and they don’t exist – previous dev created them.

  • Hey there, @cjstrand! Thanks for contacting us.

As I understand you need help updating customized templates, correct?

If you have experience with this, you can update it manually. We have a guide on it here.

But this is developer-level documentation, If you are unfamiliar with code/templates and resolving potential conflicts, we don’t recommend doing it by yourself as it can cause bigger issues on the website. If this is the case, please reach out to a developer.

You can also visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there too.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!

Hi! We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
