Experimenting with wp block theme, I cannot figure out how to use the plugin with twenty-twentythree (or twentyfour). The widget does not show up in the block list (I thought I could insert it in a column), so I assumed it only works in a sidebar. So I generated a sidebar, put the widget inside, and then put the sidebar inside the column. Now I have the list of posts, but without thumbnails and without any formatting of the title. The plugin worked ok in previous installation (classic theme) with Site Origin builder. I am convinced I am doing something wrong, but I don’t know what. orry I cannot providwe a link, I am experimenting with a local server on my pc. Thanks for your understanding. B the way,I trieed with the new plugin Ultimate… and it works with the shortcode, but there is no formatting for title or text.

    Hello @roberto21 .

Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails is based on widgets. Widgets are used in sidebars as defined in WordPress. The plugin does not provide a native block for use elsewhere on the website. The reason why the CSS is not taken into account in your structure needs to be checked. Is the CSS file loading? Will the CSS be overwritten by others? You can check this on the site itself.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, in fact I stuffed it in a sidebar and then insert the sidebar in the column. (via short code). And in this way I got the list of posts, but without the thumbnails and formatting of the title. Using ultimate…and inserting the shortcode in the column, I got everything but there is no formatting on text or title. Here probably I need to use some css, but you must have guessed I am a rookie trying to learn something.

I can provide you with the link to the previous site where I used the plugin. THis site uses a classic theme (tesseract) and siteOrigin as page builder. This is an “old” site (that is the reason why I am thinking to upgrade to a block theme), where the plugin works fine. If you access the site, you can see the plugin widget inserted in a column of siteOrigin in the home page (please forgive the amateurish flavor of the site, it was one of my first attempts…).

If you need admin acccess let me know. Thank you for your help.

As I wrote, you have to check the situation on the site where you have issues. It makes no sence to analyse a website where everythink works as expected.

If you are using Ultimate Post List instead of the Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails, you should open a thread in the appropriate forum to get help. Add your settings and provide a URL where we can check the current situation. And some of our users or staff will help you in their spare time.

Thanks again, but maybe I was not clear. In the original site (the one withnclassic “tesseract” theme) the plugin works. Since in the plugin details it is written “Although the plugin is built only for widget areas users reported that it?works in Elementor?and?works in Oxygen. … Please let me know in which?page builder?you were able to use the plugin successfully” it seems it also works in SiteOrigin. This was only for info purposes, no need to analyse anything. In any case, it does not seem to work in WP native (block) page editor.

    Thanks again for your patience

Thank you @roberto21 for clarifying. I added your report regarding the site builder to the readme.

Regarding the block editor: As long as you use a sidebar in the block editor where you add the widget, Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails will work. Because Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails does not provide a block, it can not be added as a native block in a block editor.

Thank you again for your patience. As I wrote in my other message, I tried to insert the widget in a sidebar. The process went as follows:

    1. generate a sidebar with Content Aware plugin
    2. select appearance –> widget and add Recent post with thumbnails widget (legacy widget) into this sidebar
    3. modify what is needed in the widget and update

with this method, the list of posts is indeed displayed, with some differences with respect to the “old” site:

1 the title appears on the right of the thumbnail without any formatting (in the old site it appear above the image in blue and bigger font size)

    2) the thumbnails are smaller and it seems that changing width and heigth has no effect, they remain small

With these caveats the plugin is useable. Curiously, the plugin displays the list like the other plugin (Ultimate…).

Again, this is only for your information. I keep looking for other similar plugins, but for the moment it’s ok. Thanks again for your interest.
