• I created a page “About” and it gave it the address “about” but I deleted it because I didn’t want it after a while. Now when I go to make that page again and give it the name “About” the permalink is “about-2”

    How do I get rid of the “-2” at the end of the link. the original About page has been deleted so I don’t know why it won’t let me change the permalink to be about without the -2 at the end.

  • It may have been deleted but you need to do a “permanent delete” to get it out of the database.

    look in your trash, in the edit pages menu. You must empty your trash or the url still exists

    Ah. There it is. You guys are great.

    I to have this problem. I emptied my trash, cannot find the page or menu tag in any of my themes .php files in order to insert the line

    <?php wp_list_pages(‘title_li=&exclude=35’); ?>

    When I explore the menu using Firebug, I see where the problem is page-35 but cannot discover what file is calling this out.
