Moving local site to sub-domain DISASTER..
-
I decided to replace my existing wp site with a new one and build this locally with mamp. This was because I was moving to wp3.0 and a new shopp cart version and also a new theme (modularity by graph paper press).
With so much change I thought it best not to try and upgrade my existing site but start fresh.
I do have the local site where I want it but it is a disaster moving this to a subdomain of my existing site to try out. I exported the database from mamp. I changed the URL and home in wp admin, etc… all by the book. I installed the site in mysite.com/wordpress as a sub-domain. I also uploaded a new config file for the new database on my server. Maybe the database did not import properly as I had to paste the sql text because it would not import. I checked wp-options for wrong urls and they point to the sub-domain.
I cannot have my existing site down, so I need to test my local site online.
Anyone any ideas?
