• I am trying to add a ‘New Post’ to clients website and keep getting an error message saying: “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

The website the client turned over to us is a mess, with many unused themes and plugins. I am unsure who’s email inbox the instructions are going to. Is there 1.) A reason for this happening? The site worked fine last time I was using it. and 2.) A way I can fix this in WordPress itself?

  • Hello @markmilkst ,
It might be a plugin or theme conflict or maybe some code error?you?can?just?turn on WordPress default debug mode?and?you can see the?errors?then?you get an idea of why it is happening.

The reason for the error should be visible in the error log. You can find it in your hosting area. If necessary, the support of your hosting can help you.

Alternatively, you could also enable debugging in WordPress. How to do this is described here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ – also here the support of your hosting can help you if necessary to edit the file accordingly.

In both cases you should be able to see what the cause is in the logfile.
