• Hello!,
(WP MU) When I delete a site that I have cloned, the Media files of the original site are deleted instead of the cloned one. They appear as broken links because the folder where the files are hosted is empty.

The files from the cloned site should be deleted, not those from the original. Do you know why this happens?

    Hey @mjsdsoyyo

Thanks for reporting this. Do you mind listing the active plugins you have on your site? Site deletion is handled by WordPress core and this could be an unexpected issue from another plugin.
    Looking forward to your response

    Warm Regards

Doing tests I have seen that in the database, in the options table of the cloned site, the upload_path has the same value as in the original site, and it should have a different value since the site id is different. I have also verified that it is not due to a problem with other plugins.

    Hey @mjsdsoyyo

Do you leave the option to copy media files checked? If unchecked it will reference the source media files which will be deleted when the media items are deleted

There is no option that indicates that, at least in the free version.

By default, all files in the media library will be copied to the new site and the links that reference them will be updated. NS Cloner Pro Allows you to control the loading of clones, so your cloned site can optionally continue to refer to the source site’s media files.

It seems that in my case even though I don’t have the PRO version, it copies the same upload_path as the original site.

    Thanks again!

    Hey @mjsdsoyyo ,

Thanks for the confirmation. By any chance do you have the constant UPLOADS defined in your WordPress settings? It seems when the media content is copied onto the new site, the path to the media is maintained. I will continue to try replicate this issue on my end. Please advise if you are using sub-directory or sub-domain multisite configuration.

    Warm Regards

    Hello!

No, I don’t have it. The upload_path in the DB has the following value “wp-content/blogs.dir/idsite/files

The files in Media have the correct URL but in my DB when I clone the site, the upload_path don’t change, so when I eliminated the cloned one, all the files in my original site has been deleted.

    I’m using sub-directory configuration.

    Thanks you so much.

I had the same issue. Also running a sub-directory install.
The upload_path was getting copied to all the clones. So when one of the copies deleted a file, it was deleted on the original site.
