    Hi all!

as indicated in the title, I migrated the website to a new server, siteground, using their migration tool.
Aside from a few mixed contenct errors (fixed with better search and replace) I had no other problems except the “unable to connect” error message.

I tried any solution found on the internet:
    I disabled all plugins
    I changed the theme
    I disabled XML-RPC protection
I searched wp-config for any other key problems.

Unfortunately everything was useless, the site won’t connect (so I can’t connect it to woocommerce.com either)

I hope I can get help from you.

    Thank you in advance

  • Hi there,

Thanks for contacting us! I have made some changes on our end which should help with the site’s connection to Jetpack.

Would you please delete Jetpack and then reinstall it as a first step here? You can follow these steps to do that:

    1. Start at PluginsInstalled Plugins.
    2. If Jetpack is currently active, click Deactivate to disable it. Then click Delete to remove it from your site:
    3. Go to Plugins? → Add New.
    4. Search for “Jetpack – WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth”.
    5. Click Install and then Activate.

When Jetpack is installed, click the Set up Jetpack button to reconnect.

This handy guide explains that process in more detail:

    https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reinstalling-jetpack

You shouldn’t lose any settings or any of your stats or subscribers in doing so, as that info is stored in our system here.

    Hello Gaurav,

    thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, I tried several times to deactivate and delete the plugin, but I always had the same result, “An error occurred. Please try again”.

As I stated on my previous post, I also tried the debug feature on https://jptools.wordpress.com/debug/ and the reply was “Could not validate security token”.

Could you please help me with this issue?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi @itsari,

Thank for trying the steps I suggested earlier. The main reason Jetpack is not able to connect with your website is because we are not able to access the XMLRPC.php file.

?On visiting https://<YOUR WEBSSITE URL>/xmlrpc.php I see ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR error message on that page.

If you have a security plugin installed on the site which blocks XMLRPC access please add the Jetpack IP addresses to the allow-list for this plugin and then try connecting Jetpack again.

You can find a list of current Jetpack IP addresses here.

In case you do not have a security/firewall plugin please check with your web host support about the access to XMLRPC.

Let us know what you find out.

    Hi @itsari,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

    Hello,

thank you very much again for helping me for this issue.
I can confirm I was able to fix the issue by disabling ALL the plugins and reconnecting jetpack.

There are some walk-around, though, to keep in mind in order to achieve the connection:

    • I had to disable the plugins while outside any sort of maintenance mode
    • I had to block every form of CDN o server-side Cache I had installed (e.g. siteground embedded cache)
    • I had to disconnect my account (or try and enter into the website via a logged-out browser) in order to see if all my plugins where disabled

After these after precautions I could, finally, connect jetpack (and woocomerce as well)

    Hi there, @itsari,

I am glad to hear that you finally managed to connect Jetpack and Woo – I can confirm that everything seems to be working nice and fine at our end too.

I’m going to mark this thread as solved. If you have any further questions or need more help, you’re welcome to open another thread here. Cheers!
