    Hi

I have contacted woocommerce via a ticket and they have been pretty useless. They have pointed me here as they clearly did not want to help.

I am using the free woocommerce plugin.

When i try to add a new category to my store i get an “empty term” error.

I have made sure all fields are filled. Have updated wordpress and all plugins. I have disabled all plugins incase of conflict and nothing works.

  • Hi @kingofwebdev,

I understand you’re experiencing issues with adding a new category. Since you’re using the free version of WooCommerce, our forum is the best place to get assistance. However, if you have a paid license, you can contact our team directly for more personalized support

To help you better, could you please provide a screenshot of the error message you’re seeing? This will give us a clearer picture of what might be going wrong. In the meantime, try switching to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-One to check for theme conflicts, and use WooCommerce > Status > Tools > ‘Clear Transients’ to check for database issues.

Looking forward to your response so we can get this sorted out for you.

@afzalpansuvi I’ve already done all this via the woocommerce website support page and was told to come here as they were not interested in helping.

    Screenshot below.

Clearing WooCommerce transients made no difference and showed no error. Showed success message.

    Same with changing the theme.

    Hi @kingofwebdev

This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

Additionally, please can you share a copy of the following:

    • System Status Report: Navigate to WooCommerce → Status. Select Get System Report and then Download for Support.
    • Fatal Error log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce → Status → Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply or share it via Mozilla Community Pastebin and share the link here. This will help us investigate further and provide you with a more accurate solution.

I hope that helps! Let me know once you have done a conflict test!
