I’ve been using updraft for many months. Every day a backup goes to an FTP site. Yesterday it stopped working. When I test credentials, it’s says “OK” but unable to create a file in the specified directory. So I use CyberDuck to test if I can log in with the same credentials and drop a file. It works fine. So I test using Updraft and writing to Google Drive, works fine. Settings to use FTP again, and still fails. What to check next?

    Hello,

Please could you try testing the credentials from this public ftp server on UpdraftPlus? https://dlptest.com/ftp-test as per my screenshot. Do you get the same success message?

    Hello,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you and thank you for the screenshot.

As a further test please could you drop the following script (conn.php) into the root of your site along with a test text file called test.txt. In your browser, load the script directly. e.g mydomain.com/conn.php

It should connect to the public FTP server given in the connection details. Please could you provide the output from it?
