    Hello,

In Powerpress I spotted the new setting:

    Block

This is a feature that you should use with extreme caution. The block feature signals directories that you do not wish to be listed in them and they should not syndicate your show. Not all directories honor the block feature though and you may need to reach out to the directory directly.

And I can further select Block ALL or specify certain ones.

Like the Block found under the apple specific settings, would this setting be suitable to use for our private podcast feed that we give to members who manually subscribe to their custom unique podcast URL that we give out? We do not want apps to block it from being manually subscribed to, but blocked from being indexed in their directory for others to find.

If you’re wondering how we provide a unique podcast feed URL to each member – it was coded in with special functions.php functions that checks the requested feed URI for our private feed category with ?member=uniqueIDs on the end against a list of unique member IDs maintained for our active members.

    Thanks!

Can’t see any harm in using the Block tag with private podcast RSS feeds. Just keep in mind that not all podcast apps/directories support the Block tag, so someone could still potentially submit a private feed to podcast apps/directories and have that submission be accepted.
