Hello I am receiving an error that reads “There was an error processing your order. Please check for any charges in your payment method and review your order history before placing the order again.” and I am unsure if this is due to the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway plugin, or WooCommerce itself.

I really need help fixing this issue:

    WordPress to 6.5.3

    WooCommerce to 8.9.1

    Stripe Gateway 8.30.

  • Hi there @newjerseycreative,

Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate your effort in sharing details of your site environment, however, I would recommend running a conflict test to rule out any possible plugin conflicts.

You can do this by disabling all other plugins, only leaving WooCommerce and your Stripe Gateway plugin. Should the issue persist, you can try switching to a default theme like Storefront. You can find further details on running a full conflict test from this guide.

Please be sure to make a full site backup before running the conflict test, this would help restore your site back should any issue arise.

Let us know how it goes.

I am having the same issue with a different payment gateway (Instapay).

    Hi @tyrellondijo2000,

I am having the same issue with a different payment gateway (Instapay).

As per forum best practices, I suggest that you start a new thread with your case, so that we don’t mix several troubleshooting sessions in one thread. Even if the symptoms are the same, perhaps the underlying problem is different in your case.

@ckadenge – I double checked my functions.php file and found I had conflicting code, with the code removed the checkout process returned to normal and the error message went away.

The conflicting code had to do with the email being sent when an order was placed. Thank you!

@ckadenge – it appears the problem is persisting and I am unsure what has happened or why. Can you please let me know if there has been an update to WooCommerce?

It also appears I cannot update my WooCommerce subscription plugin.

I am really unsure this time what the problem is.

@ckadenge – I have the DoorDash Local Delivery plugin activated on my website, when it is activated I receive the error message described.

When I deactivate this plugin, the order places without an error.

My business relies on this plugin to work. It was working just fine before the most recent update. Is there a work around for this? Can you please identify why this most recent update is causing this error with the plugin?

Please let me know if there is anything that can be done. This is the plugin I am referring to: Local Delivery by DoorDash – WordPress plugin | www.ads-software.com

@ckadenge – it might not be the DoorDash plugin either.

What I am noticing is when I try to purchase a prorated subscription product with the price of $0, it causes an issue and I receive the error message: There was an error processing your order. Please check for any charges in your payment method and review your order history before placing the order again.

Prorated Subscription Products are not letting me purchase through my website, I am not sure why.

    Hi @newjerseycreative

When I deactivate this plugin, the order places without an error.

This is a third-party plugin, and we don’t provide help & support for 3rd-party plugins or themes as they’re outside our support scope. It would be best to reach out to the plugin developer for further assistance.

Prorated Subscription Products are not letting me purchase through my website, I am not sure why.

The $0 price may be causing a problem. Your payment gateway plugin might be having trouble processing an order at no cost. However, for better assistance, can you provide more details, such as which subscription plugin you’ve used, and whether are you purchasing, or renewing it?

Additionally, please can you share a copy of the following:

    • System Status Report: Navigate to WooCommerce → Status. Select Get System Report and then Download for Support.
    • Fatal Error log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce → Status → Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply or share it via Mozilla Community Pastebin and share the link here. This will help us investigate further and provide you with a more accurate solution.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

@shameemreza – I am going to post this today for your review, this issue occurs when a prorated subscription is set and the item cost is $0.

    (@newjerseycreative)

@shameemreza – here is what is happening on my end:

    1) I have a subscription, set price to $1 (not free), have the subscription prorated (free on first purchase), and it synchronizes to every Wednesday (not today)
    2) I try to place a purchase. I am not using the DoorDash Local Delivery shipping method, instead I choose a flat rate. But no matter which shipping method I use it still pulls the error.
    3) I receive error that reads: There was an error processing your order. Please check for any charges in your payment method and review your order history before placing the order again.

Here is the snippet, I have replaced my actual URL with (mywebsite): Mozilla Community Pastebin/VDnZm1a2 (Plain Text)

This snippet will be live for 24 hours for your review. Thank you again.

    Hello newjerseycreative,

    Thank you for your reply.

As we have previously pointed out the error is caused by the Local Delivery by DoorDash plugin.
I noticed that you have also posted this issue on their support forum and are still waiting for the response from their support team.

At this point, I suggest you wait for them to respond and share their solution.
Once we have a response from the support, we can proceed accordingly.

    I hope this helps. ??

    Best regards.
