Find old css file in cache somewhere?
-
I am having this exact problem. https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/lost-my-work-need-to-recover-please-help I was editing my css file, Notepad++ crashed, and now it’s 0 bytes. And somehow, my back up on my pc is gone too. (Unrelated. Except by my stupidity, I guess.)
I still have what used to be my beautifully coded, valid CSS site up on my screen. But using the web developer toolbar to view/edit css just brings up the 0byte file and turns off all styles on the site. (Amazingly, it goes back to the styled version after I close the Edit CSS window.)
I am not very efficient at writing CSS, and I did this site months ago, so I’m afraid I won’t remember all the stuff I learned while making it if I try to rewrite it.
I hear there’s a chance the old stylesheet could be stored in my cache somewhere. I even went to my Firefox Internet History and found where I’d validated the CSS with the w3c validator thing, but when I clicked on it, it just re-validated my site as it is. (I was hoping it would list the old CSS. Is there any way to view my history as it was?
Someone (Root?) at the end of the above mentioned thread wrote this:
All computers without exception save every previous version of the same file somewhere. Depending on your ftp client a view all type command might recover it.
Is this true? Where? How can I find it? Can anyone help me?
Thank you for reading this!
