Add Z-index for main images?

Hi. I have a custom product configurator theme which allows different layers to overlap each other. This is working well however, I am unable to tell the configurator if an image should be positioned in front of or behind another image. Would it be possible to add a z-index field for the main product image which would help to resolve this?
