Hello, for some time we have been looking if this plugin is compatible with some of the most popular and fast wordpress themes such as wp astra, blocksy, wp kadence and we have not found an answer.

The idea is that we really appreciate your work and we think that this plugin could be a good one for us, especially if it could be compatible with some of the mentioned themes. Because we want to make a news website, but considering that we are talking about a news website, the lack of a function to sort the articles based on popular articles, somewhat prevents us from using a theme as fast as possible.

That’s why I ask you, if we could have an option in which to combine the plugin with the theme, I read: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/how-to-sorting-a-custom-query-by- views-all-time-monthly-weekly-or-daily/.

Point 1 is very easy, put a code in functions.php, but point 2 is very difficult for us to understand and we want to know if there is a video tutorial, or something like that, or a more beginner’s tutorial that explains step by step what we have to do to display the sorting in blocks, and we also want to know whether or not this plugin is compatible with the themes mentioned above.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi @geekiro,

The How To: Sorting a custom query by views (All time, monthly, weekly, or daily) topic is a tutorial meant for people who have at least some degree of WordPress development experience precisely due to the fact that to add a sort-by-views functionality to any site you need to know what needs to be changed on the theme side for it to work.

The reason it’s not more “specific” is that the steps you need to follow to implement this sort-by-views functionality really depend on two things:

    1. How you want this sort-by-views functionality to work (is it a dropdown? An archive page? Something else?), and
    2. The theme that you’re using: since themes are vastly different from each other in terms of code, maintaining a list of how-to-add-a-sort-by-views-feature-to-X-theme would be very difficult because themes, like plugins, also change overtime. The person / team maintaining such a list would need to spend a considerable amount of time keeping these theme-specific instructions up-to-date and that’s something not all developers can do for various reasons (lack of resources and/or time, for example).

So, if you want to have your site sort posts by views and you don’t have the required skills to implement this yourself:

    • Reach out to the team that maintains your theme and ask them about it, they may be willing to implement such a feature if enough people show interest; or
    • Hire a developer (if you don’t have one available in your team) and ask them to implement it for your site
