    Hi there,

I just bought PostX and added the Post Module #1 to my homepage to make a featured posts section: https://strakercarryer.com/

However, neither that module or the two PostX headers I added update text colors for dark mode like the rest of my site automatically does (using WP Dark Mode – see the toggle in the bottom left corner).

Is there a fix for this? Thanks!

  • You need to remove the color of title and other contents you have enabled from the module block , Thus it will inherit the themes color and dark mode will work fine. Please know that PostX has it’s own dark mode and Global color and typography setting. You can use the global color and postX dark mode block. image for reference

For some others, know that I didn’t know paid users can reply via email, so we are conversing there as well.

However, I realize I like the forum for history and so others can find results should they have the same problem. Sorry Al, mind if we continue here?

    My response:

I figured the issue was around adding the colors, but unfortunately, the defaults were all wrong and not inheriting the theme defaults properly. So I had to actually dive into source code to get the right font size, weight, line height, and colors to match.

As for PostX’s dark mode, I saw that, but wasn’t sure how to enable it. Heh, day one n00b stuff – I wanted to be more focused on PostModule which was my reason for buying!

Mind sharing a quick link to setting up PostX’s dark mode as a widget across the site (rather than a block in a page)? Perhaps that will fix the issue.

    And Al’s:

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your patience as we have recently introduced the global settings and dark mode features. We are in the process of updating our documentation to reflect these changes and will make it available soon.

In the meantime, here is the information on the color palette switching system, which explains how colors switch between dark mode and light mode.

    Light > Dark
    Base1 > Contrast1 ,
    Base2> COntrast2,
    Base3> COntrast 3
Primary , secondary, tartiary = remain same,
    Over primary = remain same.

I noticed that you have submitted another ticket on our forums. Rest assured, we respond to every ticket across all our platforms. Sometimes, Pro support requires access to user sites, so we communicate via email or through our ticketing system due to the strict guidelines on communication in WP forums. We also ensure to provide a response to the forum thread.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

So where I’m at now is some confusion. I see how you can add a Dark/Light block, but I was hoping more for a widget that was sticky at the bottom or top of the screen (configurable, so in my case, bottom left corner). This can’t be done as a block, right? But it seems like you’re close to releasing it as a global setting, but it’s not released yet? If so, I can wait for that.

As for all of the color options for light and dark, is that configurable without the light/dark block? I am not seeing the screenshots shared match up with PostModule on its own. It sounds like I have to wait for the global Dark/Light feature – mind confirming if so?

The PostX global settings is already introduced , But the documentation is not updated yet.

You can find the postX global setting on the top right corner in a page editor . image for reference

In the global setting there are option for override theme color and typography. if those are enabled then postx color and typography setting will override the theme color. if those are not turned off , then even the postx blocks will inherits the theme color and typography by default.

for your case , check the postx global setting and turn off the override options, so it will inherit the theme default styles and your light/dark switching will act fine with out postx dark/light switcher block.

However, you can explore our dark/light feature importing a starter template, I hope you will find more about this using the starter template . PostX > starter templates > Import.

we have created much ready made site where dark/light mode is used.

Ah OK, I think I’m following. My global settings to override the theme defaults are not enabled (screenshot), but perhaps I should change the configuration changes I made locally just to the global settings here and then I can enable the dark mode settings as well?

Update: that doesn’t seem to work, as global settings have some options to be different for headers vs body, but I’m not seeing that for colors. The body text seemed to be correct now (from the theme), so at least that now honors dark mode! But the header titles of posts do not – if I use the theme default, they are blue instead of black.

Global settings color will be availabe in the blocks color setting for choose. You need to select the color ( heading block > setting > heading color > choose from the global color ). img

    Same goes for other blocks.

Yes, I have done that in order to match my theme in light mode (the default was wrong there for whatever reason, and I acknowledge it might be the theme’s fault).

But there is no light mode/dark mode toggle there like there is in the generic PostX global settings. Hence, the selection remains consistent even after the transition to dark mode. Ie, the text remains black instead of transitioning to white when dark mode is selected.

    Hi,

When you change the light mode to dark mode, the base 1,2,3 colors change to Contrast 1,2,3. I’ve attached screenshot for better understanding.
    Here is a screenshot: image , image2

Let me know if this info helps regarding your query.

The problem is there is no contrast color selection option in the PostModule color choices (screenshot). There is only color and hover color.

How do I select the contrast colors?

Currently, our plugin allows you to override the light-mode colors. I hope to introduce an option for dark-mode colors in the future. I’ve noted down it.

For now, you can manage the dark-mode colors through the global settings.

I’m glad you’ve noted this feature down, as I feel like that’s what’s needed and global settings can’t solve the issue. I already have uploaded a screenshot of the global settings, and it doesn’t allow you specify header vs body colors, etc. In other words, it simply won’t solve my needs like adding contrast options into the block editor would.

I await this feature! In the meantime, I may simply have to disable offering dark mode for now ??.
