This is a great plugin. Thank you for carefully maintaining it.

I am wondering if the plugin is strict about what it counts as a page view. There is, of course, a lot of noise in the logs. I am guessing that the plugin is very strict about what counts as a page view. This is a good thing because it means the data is clean. But do you think it might be overly strict?

    Hello @flaneuring,

I think the most important thing is that the numbers are consistent relative to each other so that you can properly compare time periods.

In terms of strictness, I do not think that Koko Analytics is overly strict. Every page load that looks to be coming from an actual human is counted – anything that looks to be automated (ie, coming from a bot, crawler or browser prefetch) is not.

If someone running an ad-blocker with a filter rule set-up for Koko Analytics visits your site, then this visit is also not counted. One could argue that this is unfair since Koko Analytics does not track anything specific about the visitor, but unfortunately there is not much we can do about this in the long run.

I hope that clarifies a bit. If not, let me know please.

This is helpful, thank you. That is smart to ignore prefetch requests.

By the way, it bothers me that there is so much low-quality traffic hitting the server. I recently upgraded from 7G Firewall to 8G Firewall.
