    Dears,

I installed wordpress in my server. I want just to ask about the best for the installation and not to hack my site.

Shall i upload wordpress files to my server ( www ) directly or shall i upload the files to a directory inside www ??

Also i want to know if i put the wordpress files into a file/directory, and then i make a redirect to my wordpress link by domain’s cpanle, is it not good with research bots ?? or no problems ??

If you want to use wordpress from a directory follow instructions here no need to redirect.

    Dear govpatel,
Thanks alot, that what i want exactly
but i don’t find the following files :
    .htaccess
    web.config ( i found only wp-config.php )
As mentioned in the explaination , i should transfer one of them to the root but i don’t find them in my files.
    Shall i creat .htaccess ?

Btw, i do what the steps says ( but without the above files ), it works fine. but i’m afaid i get a problems or hackers by missing the above files

what shall i do plz ?

.htaccess is hidden file and if you look in your root it will there as cpanel creates one on root by default.

just reset your permalinks and it will update .htaccess file and if wordpress can not update it will give the code.

Did you copy index.php file in root and change line 17 and add your folder.

All other files and folders stay in folder.

One thing remember is that when ever you update you will need to check index.php file in root if it not over written if it is add that folder back in line 17
