I’ve had jetpack stats installed on several small websites for various nonprofits over the years, not because it was the most feature rich, but because it was straightforward to use and gave a nice overview of the site. I wasn’t a fan of the switch to the new stats when it rolled out, as I found that it was a much slower interface. But I’m really disappointed in the forced upgrade to commercial licences now for these non-profits. Yes, they accept donations, and the amount that Jetpack wants is equal to or more than what they are currently paying for actually hosting their sites each month–if we stick with Jetpack it will double (or more) the cost of the operating the website.

I’m now actively researching alternatives and will be uninstalling Jetpack soon.

Hello there – thank you for sharing your experience with Jetpack Stats. We understand your concern with the recent changes.

For sites with commercial content, the Stats paywall is indeed mandatory. Since your site accepts donations, it falls under this category and would require a commercial license. However, we’re constantly refining our offerings and will soon launch a new restricted Stats dashboard. This will provide basic features for free or on a pay-what-you-want basis while keeping premium features behind a paywall. This approach aims to balance user familiarity with the development of advanced features.

We also want to address your concerns about the slower interface. To assist us in investigating this issue, could you provide your site address? Additionally, please let us know if the interface is slow when viewing stats in the WP Admin or on the WordPress.com dashboard. If you want, you can also contact us from here.

We appreciate your feedback and patience as we work on these improvements.
