The express checkout buttons ( Gpay and Apple Pay) on cart and checkout – after clicking – grey out and the page does nothing.

The G pay button only seems to work on the product pages?

I’ve now disabled the express checkout buttons on the cart and checkout paged.

Paypal payments is NOT on this site as that was causing a lot of issues with express checkout in the past.

What is causing this issue? What is the solution? Currently there is only cc/dd options for payment, which is ok, bit may turn off some potential customers. Ideal to get that up again soon.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi @itsmefti,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I understand you’re facing an issue with the payment buttons graying out when clicking.

Before we can proceed with the steps to troubleshoot the issue, I’d like to understand a few things:

    1. Do you remember when it started?
    2. Also, was this working correctly before?
    3. Do you remember making any changes before the issue started, such as updating or installing plugin(s)?
    4. Lastly, what version of WooPaayments are you currently using?

Looking forward to assisting you further.

I have the same problem after updating to version 8.01.

The express checkout buttons ( Gpay and Apple Pay) on cart and checkout – after clicking – grey out and the page does nothing.

After downgrading to version 7.9.2 the express checkout buttons ( Gpay and Apple Pay) work again.

Hi, thank you both for your replies – apologies for the delay by me!

I read on other similar threads a “fix” for what the update broke was released?

Ok so I need to roll back – where do I find the 7.9.2 version ?

    Thank you all !

    P.S I just checked the version I have – 8.0.1

This is the version with the “fix”?

I’ll spend some time later seeing if the issue ironed out!

    Hello itsmefti,

    Thank you for your reply.

For better understanding, could you tell me which device and browser are you using?

The latest version of the WooPayments is 8.0.1 and it was released 3 days ago.
This contains a fix for the issue related to the Direct Checkout that broke the PayPal extension.

The problem you are facing is different.
Have you tried WooPayments version 7.9.2?
The WP Rollback plugin might help you with rolling back to the previous version.

Let me know how it goes. ??

    Best regards.

    HI @doublezed2

    I’v rolled back to 7.92.

Now the express checkout options ( Buy with Gpay) has disappeared from product pages, cart and checkout!? The options have been selected to show on these pages. Confused!

I notice the express checkout options are not visible when using my Motorola g32 device. Both on chrom and DuckDuckGo browser. However on an older phone with Chrome browser – Samsumg A21s – the express buttons DO appear on all product/cart and checkout pages. Confused !

Also(!) I did notice that when using the express Gpay option – there is no option for the customer to input a coupon code?

    Hi @itsmefti

We apologize for the inconvenience you’ve been experiencing with the express checkout options.

However, does the express payment option show on the desktop? For better assistance, can you provide your publicly accessible website URL?

Additionally, head over to WooCommerce → Status → Tools, and do the following:

    • WooCommerce transients – Clear
    • Expired transients – Clear
    • Clear template cache – Clear
    • Capabilities – Reset Capabilities
    • Clear customer sessions -Clear
    • Product lookup tables – Regenerate
    • Regenerate the product attributes lookup table – Regenerate

Next, please clear your browser and site cache and then check back again.

If this makes no difference, you can run a conflict test to help you identify the cause of the issue. More info: https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

Let me know once you have done a conflict test!

    Hi Shameem (woo-hc)

A little update from me. I have done the following steps:

WooCommerce → Status → Tools, and do the following:

    WooCommerce transients - Clear
    Expired transients - Clear
    Clear template cache - Clear
    Capabilities - Reset Capabilities
    Clear customer sessions -Clear
    Product lookup tables - Regenerate
Regenerate the product attributes lookup table - Regenerate

Then I installed version 8.01 again.

The express payment button for G-Pay was then displayed on my desktop (I am not registered for Apple Pay).

However, the G-Pay Express button of version 8.01 does not work for me either on desktop or mobile. I therefore installed version 7.92 again straight away. The button works in the mobile version. Of course, it is not displayed in the desktop.

    My website is: https://werkzeug-garten.de/

I use KINSTA as my hoster.

I’ll wait for the next version and hope that it works.

    Best regards,
    Raffael

    @shameemreza thanks for your message.

    Rolled back version. 7.9.2

    website is : https://les-parfums.co.uk

as above, when all the express checkout options are “yes”, the gpay buttons do not appear on desktop or mobile ( neither chrome nor duckduckgo). Oddly they do show on an old phone with Chrome browser???

I’ll implement the things you mentioned.

i may decide to look for a other payment processor as I can’t be having the payment options going wonky too often. Or simply turn off the express checkout which is not ideal but…

    thanks for your efforts.

    (@itsmefti)

    Ok, this is odd!

Updated to latest version of Wpayments.

With the express checkout options all “yes” – the express option (Gpay) only appears on a product page.

On the cart page there is a blank where the button should be and also on the checkout page its says “Express checkout” and again a blank space where the button(s) should be.

I guess this issue is known now – a few other posters have had the same issue…When will this be resolved? Will it be the next update? Apologies for the many messages, we are quite panicked and losing customers by lack of payment options – only CC/DD works without issues.

    Thread Starter itsmefti

    (@itsmefti)

P.s The ‘buy now with Gpay’ from the product page works fine.

Buttons DO show on mobile at the cart and checkout stage and they work.

So just not working best on desktop.

As always your help and support is much appreciated.

    Hi @itsmefti,

So just not working best on desktop.

Glad to know that the buttons are now showing and working on mobile.

As a next step, you might want to try a process of elimination to see if there’s a conflict somewhere. Try disabling all other plugins and switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Four or Storefront. If the button works, you can start reactivating plugins one by one to identify the source of the conflict.

Please let us know how this goes.
